It's not like they were putting up consistently competitive results before covid though
2021 12th
2020 10th

2019 10th
2018 8th
2017 13th
2016 10th
2015 13th
2014 9th
2013 11th
2012 14th

Had a decent spell before that but the current decade of mediocrity didn't start with covid and based on current signs doesn't end by getting back to NZ either.
Wasn't really referring to results, more the instability. I think their recruitment strategy limits their success (both players and coaching staff).
It's a pretty unique situation for everyone involved, and not in a good way

While not a 100% pure correlation bad results breed instability and instability breeds bad results.

NZ isn't that bad of a place to live, especially if you are from NZ, it shouldn't be as hard as they make it.

I liked your take on it earlier, that they're not getting the really good juniors aspiring to play for the Warriors (or seeing an opportunity to).
You could argue that another team in NZ would give more opportunity and help more players stick around for a shot at first grade. Right now your best bet to make a living from footy is to move to Australia... then NZ have to convince players to uproot and move back home again. It's not a great way to recruit if you want locals in your team, which I think they do need to build interest in NZ

Was it Kiwishark who knew Turner? Named at 6 for Titans

Yep, there are 15 opportunities in Aus and 1 in NZ. They need to hit on almost every single kid they work hard to keep and realistically that is almost impossible, especially when you need to still also be financially competitive to keep the kid you do keep if they are one of the best prospects.

Turner another kiwi about to debut in Australia...

Is there much of a local NRL comp in NZ? Could you earn okay coin player lower grades there?
Why am I asking you?

Yeah no idea but if I was NZRL I'd be trying to find some way to fund a (what the correct age is I'm not sure) U18 or similar comp which is so attractive to young Kiwis that they seriously consider sticking around for it.

Why go to Aus before 17 if at 17 & 18 you can play in a (making all these details up) 8 team U18s comp with each team coached by a former NZ rep player and paying minimum $500 a match (and maybe some of the better players have various extra money from Warriors).
Put a Warriors logo somewhere on every teams jersey, have Warriors players make regular appearances at trainings and games. I dunno I'm totally spitballing but I just think they need to make staying in NZ to play League much much more attractive.

If the players then leave to SG Ball / Jersey Flegg and Qld equivalents so be it, at least you have bought yourself a couple extra years where you can talent ID and indoctrinate them into being grateful to Warriors.
At the moment heaps of the leave at like 15 and are long gone before Warriors really get a proper chance to secure them.

Expensive solution though.
Much cheaper to just become absolutely insanely good at IDing and securing the handful of kids in each age group who will become the best NRL players.

I would like to take this opportunity to tell you about an interesting site - https://betpokies.com - where you can find great reviews of casinos in Australia.
You have a very good initiative! However, I think it should have the support of specialized sports committees. If this will be achieved, then the situation with young players will have a chance to change radically.
