The whole drug testing is BS, how often is it random. There are players that would be on drugs every weekend and party hard. COVID times might have slowed that. But look at Joey and rumours of Lockyer.

Barba was caught after GF in what’s pretty tough but he also had priors. You’d bet your house that any Grand final side winner or loser would be on it. Smart clubs like Roosters would hide them away from ASADA.

Its just interesting to see what the penalty will be, Walsh is a 19 yr old that fronted up.

Here we have the Australian no. 6 with all the nrls education under his belt. We had big fines for Pearce and Vaughn for off field. Have to see where this sits

Guess they figured better to know about it and control it internally than have players caught out by asada / NRL

Also probably helped guide some of their retention / release decisions

Yeah no doubt clubs would test. But bye weekends so twice a year. And if that player was to travel or hideaway somewhere would make that difficult.

Like through the peptides thing Gal was continuing tested.

We have all seen players out ****ed up or doin stupid things. These fellas were caught and they house hold names. As I said will be interesting to see how Nrl or Melbourne handle it

No wonder Broncos pretty much played a State of Origin during those golden years.
Players making BIG $, on the side from sponsors , to play at the club . He alone might have received $200K

Storm gave Bromwich a 2 game ban when he got done for coke a few years back and the club called on the NRL for more regular testing

These kiwi lads must love the stuff , maybe it is harder to come across back home as well

I'm not saying that I agree with it. But I also don't think you can say Australia is tough on drugs. We aren't even a little bit tough on drugs.

Isn't that only for trafficking?

TBH mate I'm not up on Singapore's laws. But I'll assume a country that executes traffickers is probably pretty harsh on users. I'll also assume the difference between a user & trafficker would be less than a gram of whatever you're caught with. For instance in ACT I'm ok with 50g of weed, but 51g I'm a dealer. Unlikely they'd pursue trafficking charges over that gram but not impossible.

Regardless I don't think our law makers should take cues from a country that executes people.

30yrs for a cafe owner attempting to import cocaine. 12yrs for a dude who abducted a 12yr old girl, fed her ice & sexually assaulted her for 9hrs before the police found her crying, shaking & rocking back and forward. 4yrs for a female teacher who raped her underage student.

I'm not sure about you but that's outta whack for me.

I think you will find there is a whole heap of inconsistencies. A guy I went to school with got head butted and punched from behind from two minors he didn't know when he walked past them. He died and they got 2-3 years Jail.

I wondering then if the QLD government puts all their chips in by calling a zero attendance to the game in the hope that the NRL postpones?

It would be a big gamble but they would be banking on the NRL not wanting its prestigious Grand Final match played in an empty stadium. A postponement or transfer might allow full capacity and potentially saving the government from having to pay up??

Cynical view I know…..and probably unlikely.
I’d hate to see it postponed.

So yes QLD Gov might want to go to zero IF crowds need to be culled again .

With no lockdown announced on Friday though, and judging by Adbo's comments about Saturday being simply too late to move the game, it now appears the grand final will either be in Brisbane with a crowd at a minimum 50 per cent capacity, or it will be postponed to a later date.
