All fair & unfortunately true, Chad.
When drugs become a dependence things get crook. When things get crook people turn to drugs. When they get caught we punish them & make things crooker. Seeing a pattern? People with a drug problem need help not a criminal conviction.
It's inevitable that your boy will encounter drugs. It's proven prohibition & scare campaigns don't work. Education & understanding are the best tools to arm your kid with. Unfortunately we have governments opposed to things like pill testing which undoubtedly educates & saves lives by providing more ability to make an informed choice.
Be careful not to demonise drugs so much that if he does do it or his mates do & things go pear shaped he's not afraid to call on you or someone else. Too many ****ers hesitate calling help because they're scared of getting in trouble while their mate dies.
I would say Australia does prohibition very badly. Australia is very soft on drugs. Prohibition works very well in places like Singapore where there is an actual punishment. Most people get caught with small amounts of drugs get sweet **** all. Not saying education doesn't work. Australia doesn't do either well.
