I still don't fully understand the need to move for two years. There is nothing in Richard Munro's update to indicate that the Center of Excellence and ET Stand/Monty Porter changes are actually funded/approved/on the agenda. Yes there has been plans and drawings, but will they actually be part of this two year window? Time for some real clarity on this from the club.

Assuming we are moving, originally I was in favour of Bankwest, but I am happy now with the Kogarah idea for the majority of games. Even if we played the Dragons in a local derby and we were the home team, it could be quite an occasion. It's probably best for the players, consistent and close to home... and lately it doesn't seem to matter at all whether they are home/away or what the crowd size is. Also the best chance of getting some of my less-fanatical friends/family to a game.

I'd suggest just one regional game, we've seen before how they can kill our season with all the travel. But make it a big one, like Fiji as mentioned above. Something that would make it attractive for players to play for the Sharks still.

I'd add that I would only move our games if we physically can't play at Shark Park, due to public safety/development contracts/NRL rules.

If it's just a matter of reduced crowd sizes/convenience/comfort/corporates, we would still be better at Shark Park with a crowd of 5000 in half a stadium than at any of the other alternatives.

Richard Munro said:
However, to achieve that outcome, there will be extensive building works which would seriously damage the Leagues Club customer experience and also the game day experience at PointsBet Stadium over the next two years. We are facing significantly reduced parking, road works at club and stadium entry points, closure of kitchen facilities and extensive scaffolding which would reduce our capacity.

We believe you, the members, deserve better.

It's basically a suburban park. The grandstand is about 20 metres long and doesn't have a single box.

It used to have a box, but set away from the grandstand. Party pies and sausage rolls in the pie heater and beer in an esky.

Had a few good days in there, had to be quick with the party pies before Steve Mascord ate them all ;)

The only unused surburban ground that could host NRL games would be North Sydney yeah? (Not counting CC)

From Gal's article:
A key reason that the club needs to save money is to upgrade the stadium. For one, we'll have a stadium that is compliant as an NRL finals venue. Right now, if we finish in the top four, we're not eligible to play a semi-final here.

First I've heard of that! If true this should be a main selling point to fans reluctant about the shutdown and asking "what does the ground get?"

Would be surprised if Greenberg gave it the go ahead for finals anyway.

We built a compliant female team and they wouldn't let us use that.

I'd love to see our Sharkies play here again, been a few years now. I believe the Doggies have announced 3 games/3 yrs recently. Teams normally bring over the Warriors for their extra flight time and the huge Kiwi/Islander crowd.

Yeah I'd take that with a grain of salt. NRL have said before that if we finished top 4 we would could, and then they've also said we couldn't.

They change eligibility on the fly to suit their agenda. And it's not just us, they have done it to other clubs too.

They've even offered to play a semi at Penrith despite the fact Panthers haven't been near the top for in ages

In a nutshell , what improvements are we getting in regard to the ground ?
