I was pleased to see he played a lot of basketball in high school. Always a good indicator of ball playing skills, and footwork. Mundine was a very good basketballer.

Mundine was a very gifted athlete though despite being a ****wit of massive proportions.

Not sure basketball in general would be relevant.

Kennedy has great ballplaying ability for a young fullback. He's quick but I wouldn't say particularly fast for his position. I see him as a Darius Boyd style fullback atm. That said if he can get a bit more power and explosiveness in his legs, he might be a bit more Benny Barba!

I reckon basketball is an indicator of talent, not a cause of it, if that makes sense.

Tbh, Val had issues in just about all those areas. Not bitter, but on reflection his freakish natural talent covered up some fundamental deficiencies.

Yep, pretty much everyone has deficiencies somewhere, just interested to hear what to expect from Kennedy if he gets a gig

Light footed, but hard to tell much against a paper thin Wenty outfit... geez they looked hopeless!

I often wonder whether Peachey or Campbell would even get a run in the NRL these days. So much focus on teaching big blokes how to play footy instead of taking footballers and making them stronger...

You could argue that both the players mentioned were shown the door from the Sharks for this reason.

Our young half looks promising, cost us a bit in 3rd parties to keep him but should pay dividends, young Jeff Robson, has the best settling touch finder in the game.

its the nsw cup

the one scott porter won 2 x player of the year awards

kennedy is not going to be the answer at fullback
What other gauge can we measure young players by? Not everyone makes the NRL at 19, and being one of the best players on your NSW Cup team at 20/21 is a much better indicator of success than carving up the NYC or making junior rep teams.
