The Penalty against Lewis 1st half for the tackle in the air
Would have to the worst penalty I've ever seen.
What is he meant to do?
he backs out of the tackle and was standing his ground.
Lewis actually look dumbfounded.

I found our handling was poor and our penalty count against us was huge.

Capewell is not a winger, he is a centre/ back row.
Beale played well at FB
Ramien and brailey has an ok debut but would love to see them play an FG NRL game before any real judgement.

Refereeing was piss poor. The league federation need to look at just one set of rules for NRL, ESL and international. At stages our players looked confused on half of the decision on the referee.

Yeah - all of this is spot on. Brailey looked comfortable. Dummy half service and defense were both outstanding. Brown looked like a halfback playing at dummy half.

Beale at 1 was probably one of our best. Was surprisingly safe and very good positionally.

Reffing was ordinary.

I would still have Brown on the bench and play Brailey for 60minutes. If you play Brailey for 80, it might work for 2 thirds of the season, but then catch up with him.

Brown can always come on and play in the halves, where he is very dangerous and proven, putting Chad at dummy half for a spell. If Brown turns out to be poor at the the 9. It's not ideal, but it's better than bringing on an ordinary 9 IMO.

****. Tagas used his 1 good run for the year already
I believe his annual quota is continent based so he is still good for a hitup in Aus through March/Oct

Beale seems to be playing really well from what I've seen
Seems to be having a solid pre season from the games I have seen him play - probably on thin ice with Flanno has given him the kick up the ass he needed

Defensively he could, but I couldnt handle his poor slow seevice for 80.

Not sure if you are serious. Based on dummy half service Brailey is way ahead of Nu.

Based on that game alone I think Brailey gets a spot for round one. The bench spot should be Nu unless they want to experiment with some other combination of players in there for 15 minutes per game to give Brailey a spell. I'd go Paulo for one game and see if it is a disaster or not - but I think Flanno will be happy having Nu on the bench and splitting the time as per last night.

Only one thing fully solves our number 9 problem and that is signing Segyaro. That's not going to happen I reckon.

I thought the youngster looked OK - I have to admit I didn't watch a lot of it when Wigan had the ball, had time issues and had to fast forward through a lot of it.

We basically had a reserve grade backline that hasn't had a lot of time together so I'm not surprised we didn't click.
When I saw the size of the in-goals I knew we were in trouble with kicks as well, I think Maloney got one spot on and Beale did for Ramien's try. But other than that, every other one went dead.

3 new spine players (considering we used two hookers). It probably should be expected that we'd be a bit clunky.

It was the dumb **** like not being able to play the ball that annoyed me the most.

Disappointing loss, especially with the amount of handling errors (how many ptb fumbles? 4? 5?). It was almost criminal.
Highlights of the game: Taga's run, Beale's very good game and the scrum win against the feed.

We'll have to win the premiership again to get another shot. I like that. I just hope it won't take another 50 years.

Agreed. Brailey's service was way quicker and sharper than Nu's. Only thing that slowed him was getting to the play the ball as he looked rooted at times. No way he can play 80 from round one, but he should be a lock for 50ish so far.

Not sure Paulo is the way to go, brailey is solid defensively, so if you're going to bring someone else on at 9 why not try have someone who can spark something?

We said the same about lichaa, but hes playin 80 regularly and making 40-50 tackles per game.

Yes but he's had a year or two more now in FG. As HB said, in a year or two he'll be much better and will probably play 80. But not now.
I thought he really threw himself into defending for the first 20 and didn't take a backward step.

I was pumped after those 1st 3 tackles from kickoff that lead to a mistake, and thought here we go... But sadly that was about it... Happy to go over again as defending premiers, hope we never go again unless we are chasing the champions of the world title.

He was basically doing this from day 1 at the dogs.

Yep. That first defensive set coulda set the scene. Obviously sloppy cold **** conditions, wigan were also sloppy but clearly they had the conditions dialled a lot better than us
