Things to fix .
Fitita lazy play the balls again.
Wado a bit undisciplined and most of the team for that matter.
Birds tackling and reading in defence .
Getting the ball to Bird early in attack .
Capewell would go better on the right edge .
Any other fixes ?
Positives
The team didn't lack intensity and is fit . They went the full 80 minutes in very slippery and muddy conditions.
Braileys defense is first rate and can only get better leading the team around in attack . Nu Brown tackled well too at hooker and would have been dangerous in dry conditions .
Val and Feki hopefully both back soon .

We had a completely different back three to last year. Our back three were outstanding last year. Two newbies plus a fullback that hasn't played there in a while. Thought Beale did ok but he's not Barba.

Brown was meh. I would've preferred we didn't waste 2 interchanges on him, and instead played Brailey 60+ straight up and let Brown finish the match.

Totally agree Slide
At his best wouldn't end up being in the top 8 NRL fullbacks .
Such an important position , however did give his all tonight

Johns is on drugs "I don't agree, I thought the referreing was fair all round"

I thought the reffing was at least consistent.

I so wish we'd go back to 1 ref. Even if he does have **** interpretations it will be delivered consistently throughout the game regardless of who does or doesn't have the ball. 2 refs is rubbish & its no wonder we see so much chat-back from the players - no 1 man is in charge so if one is harsher in an area you're looking to exploit you'll naturally try divide the 2.

Love Rugby League. Hate NRL.

I think just one of either Barba, Ennis or Val could have made for a different result but it wasn't to be. Well done Wigan. Deserved win.

Barba and Val were our best finishers last year. We were definitely missing a lot of class and polish in that area. And definitely missing Ennis' scrapping and organisational skills.

No way he would have lasted. There were one or two sets about 15 minutes in he didnt get to dummy half at all and jimmy was covering for him. Also the second try came opportunity came from him and fifita being slow to get to marker.

Thats just match fitness at a first grade level though. His defence was fantastic and service was notably better than browns. Should be starting round 1 and working towards playing as many minutes as he can handle.

Well done to Wigan & Warrington on their wins

Hopefully with a fully fit squad on board it isn't too many rounds into the season before things click or it could get pretty messy

We looked like we did in 2015, relying on fast play the balls alone to get momentum and points. The play the ball was slow as a wet week and we didn't adapt. I thought we should have attacked with more depth.

losing both wingers, and our 1 and 9 was never going to be easy. That said a bit of luck with Capewell and Lewis no trys and we would have won IMO.

it didn't seem like heighno played many minutes. though he made a real impact in the first half couple of solid runs through the middle.

Less said about the game the better but it was the first chance for my boy to watch the Sharks live with his old man. At 16-0, he turned to me and said "Daddy, It's been really good coming up to Wigan but I think we're going to lose today." 😔
Oh well. Still premiers. 😃

Refs were bad but we were terrible. Poor discipline, couldnt hold the ball and were struggling to put them off their game.

Wigan deserved that win, well done to them

Ennis did a lot of little things that make a huge difference. If we needed a wake up call this is it, we did not or could not change tactics to adjust to the conditions, should be better for the run

League really is becoming like union when it comes to the whistle.

Graham pulled up for the forearm, soft. Defender still holdin on, should be allowed to lay into him. Gals offload called a drop was terrible. The game is just stop start and when u couple that with poor decisions it becomes hard to watch. Imagine actually playing in it

I found our handling was poor and our penalty count against us was huge.

Capewell is not a winger, he is a centre/ back row.
Beale played well at FB
Ramien and brailey has an ok debut but would love to see them play an FG NRL game before any real judgement.

Refereeing was piss poor. The league federation need to look at just one set of rules for NRL, ESL and international. At stages our players looked confused on half of the decision on the referee.

I know a lot of people say 'oh this game doesn't mean anything' or 'it's just a glorified trial'. But being the first Aussie team to lose the WCC in what is it? 5 years? Really doesn't sit well with me. We may not get another chance at that title and while that might not mean much to some of you, it did to me.
