Manly fans have been talking up Meehan for a while now.

I just love Manly fans being wrong.

Can anyone see this side winning a game?

Newcastle Knights
1. Peter Mata'utia, 2. Nathan Ross, 3. Dane Gagai, 4. Joe Wardle, 5. Ken Sio, 6. Brock Lamb, 7. Trent Hodkinson, 8. Josh Starling, 9. Danny Levi, 10. Daniel Saifiti, 11. Sione Mata'utia, 12. Mitch Barnett, 13. Jamie Buhrer. Interchange: 14. Tyler Randell, 15. Jacob Saifiti, 16. Josh King, 17. Sam Mataora.

I reckon they will go alright in the Nines.

Premiership wise, they'll get a few lucky wins.

NRL's fault not the clubs get into them. The cost of hosting a trial is atrocious the NRL should be using the trials as a way to gain exposure in areas that don't normally get games.

Ill tell ya, that if they held a trial here (usually Newcastle hold one up here) for the Sharks, i would pay $35 to go. however we arent the fans they are targetting. The fans they are targetting are families and people who cant or dont get to games. A family isnt going to wanna spend upwards of $60 to get 4 people into a game of footy, that is being played at the same time as the 9s and will have both teams minus the exciting players!.

NRL should be subsidising it, advertising it and then let clubs take the gate takings also.....which could then be dropped down to something like $15 a piece.

In an allied move, NRL clubs will be required to name a squad of 21 players on a Tuesday, with two players to be deleted on the eve of the final training session. A squad of 17 must then be announced in the standard one hour before kick-off.

This is designed to prevent a club from ambushing an opponent with the unexpected return of a big-name player to the starting team. Betting agencies will welcome the latter move because of complaints from punters that they often lodge a bet early in the week and are also blind-sided by key, late changes.

So are they saying that the 21 man team named on tuesday, only those players are allowed to play that weekend? ie, no late inclusions? So say Gal gets an injury, and isnt named on the tuesday, even if he comes fit on the friday he cant play? Unless named in the 21 on tues?

Not a fan personally.
Limits options which may hand tie a team with unpredictable cases.
This seems more like something to aid the punters more than rival clubs.
If a star player has been injured and close to a return, I would have thought a professional club would cater for that player either way with their strategies.

As much as the inaccuracy of team lists frustrates the **** out of me punting-wise and supercoach-wise, this idea can't possibly work in practice.

A player gets injured for 6 weeks, what's to stop them putting the injured player on the list the entire 6 weeks?

Even if a coach wasn't trying to play this game, it's unreasonable to name a definite side (with only 2 spares) on a Tuesday. Can't be done.
