Those socks...the third type of blue on our jersey

G.H you didn't happen to formerly post here under another name did you?

Because I was just about to tag him to get said opinion on socks and found his profile has been deleted haha

I'm less annoyed that the socks when stretched out are little bit lighter blue than the jersey which is made of different material (although I do agree I don't see a good reason they can't get it a bit closer)

and more annoyed at the way AFB is wearing his.

wtf is stripes folded IN
We have proper sock, and down sock, we don't need inside out sock to join the equation haha
It seems like more effort to even do!?

Nope, long time viewer.

Did someone else share my frustrations on our socks?

If we could do match the blues in the past I'm sure the tech now can do it.

Anyway the block of light blue with black looks ick.

I just don't get how the club signed that crap off.

Even the actual design of the sock pattern is crap, why aren't we using the proper ones that we've always had with the hoops jersey?

Isc owning the design somehow? Other than that I'm not sure.

Yeah but even the socks from 70s,80s,90s seem to have the same pattern. Even from 2012-17 we had it right, and had different suppliers.

I'm really hoping we get a new supplier next year.

Would love to see Puma make a return as kit supplier. Sponsor and feature Nicho in alot of their RL advertisements, Toby gets featured alot as well so could see them being interested in doing it.

When was the last time a season long bit of kit was universally well received?
Maybe some shorts? even then someone probably thought they'd look better if you couldn't see the sponsor properly on them.

People don't want the hoop jersey every year but unhappy the sock pattern has changed haha
It's just a sock. The black box should be a bit lower, the blue should match a little better. I personally am not going to notice either of those things in game.

(Good tidying @SF , I did think 'sponsorship' wasn't the place for this convo haha)

I just want better merch dude

That t-shirt Adidas and NSW released the other day for instance was great, so were the hoodies and the retro inspired jersey.
I'm probably going to buy one of the shirts.

Nobody really buys the socks though do they?

But yeah particularly the non-playing/training kit I agree has been pretty poor to me (t-shirts and the like). There will always be stuff you like and don't like, and stuff you aren't really the target audience for.

They do have to cycle through designs and styles also though, can't do the same good retro top every year. They had great success with the remake of the Pepsi style a couple seasons back as a retro, now tweak it for an away jersey and loads of people don't like it (I wouldn't buy it, but it's fine - and I don't buy every jersey anyway and never would).

I do prefer a simple look myself so the Blues stuff is good.
In saying that, easier to make crisp and simple when the only non-team logo you have to worry about is the apparel manufacturer.

I was more interested in seeing if G.H was Mr Sharkie than the socks tbh.

My own complaints about classic are well documented about being towards the overall quality, The Pepsi kit was done by dynasty and I would say the quality of their product throughout that deal was much better received by everybody, although the the manufacturing issues they had during covid also well known.

Teams under no obligation to put a kit sponsor on merch designed for casual wear. NSW Blues kit are sponsored by Westpac yet that's not on the merch is it?

That’s probably a question for the contracts involved but definitely seems to be the case and I agree we’ve made some pretty mediocre stuff in that space.

Quality and supply issues obviously a whole other kettle of fish and represent their own issues

Issues I believe wouldn't exist if we signed with someone like Puma

Not saying it's even on the table but I'm allowed to hope they'd have an interest in doing so

I'm sure they'd be open to any brand but it needs to work for club too.

I won't pretend to have the slightest idea the negotiations that go on for who an apparel producer is.

Do Puma fancy themselves as prestigious enough they cost a premium and it isn't cost effective?
Do Classic see our brand as strong enough they will do a good price and we can make a bit more money per item?
Are you working with a rep who values you as a client and will bend over backwards to make sure you get what you want even on an emergency turnaround or are you a small client to a global giant that won't squeeze a special jersey into an order because it will slow their production of cashcows Man City and AC Milan by a moment?
Rhetorical questions obviously, but I guess the sorts of things that may play a role.

They are mid to me, not necessarily ****, but either way I think in the end I at least won't notice them too much.

If you think they are ****, and certainly entitled to think so, hopefully you won't notice them much either!
