Good thread sb.

Personally i think we're playing way better footy now than 2013, we've started to gel as a team and aren't overly reliant on 1 or 2 players like we were then. Majority of our games were basically carney and Fifita carrying the team.

The potential for this team to give the comp a real shake this year is very real and we aren't carrying pathetic excuses for footballers like ben pomeroy and jono wright in the team.

Thanks mate.

I tend to agree. Although we were able to put the odd score on in 2013 when toddy was firing I feel much more comfortable with this side and the balance of the squad.

If ennis isn't firing, Val is or fifita or bird.

There's enough talent in this squad for someone else to take the pressure off our other stars. Whereas in 2013 if toddy was injured or playing **** we were shot to pieces.

Agree to an extent but I think we rely massively on Ennis. With no halves he gives the team direction. Without him we're completely rudderless imo.

2013 seemed like we had a firing half to make up for a lackluster team, now we have a firing squad to make up for lackluster halves

Good question, we relied heavily on Toddy in 2013, and him losing the Dally M by 2 votes yet missing a third of the season shows how good the guy could play.... However for some reason I have far more confidence in our team this year, I think we look so composed in defence and Mick is giving us some real direction and leadership out there.

2013 comfortably. This team has had a good two month period and probably has a better spread of talent given we have some highly talented kids now, but 2013 was the culmination of two years of improvement.

Good thread idea though.

Maybe I'm overrating this season on our form right at the moment but i was never overly impressed with the team in 2013. Some games we were ****ing horrible to watch - the Melbourne game down there and 40 nil loss to the roosters are 2 that instantly spring to mind but from memory even a lot of our wins masked the massive problems our team had.

While we rely heavily on ennis, I think we play more like a team rather then relying on one player (the bubbler) to do everything creative wise. Scored more exciting tries this year as well

Was just curious to hear others thoughts on what year you think we were playing better footy?

Doesn't even have to specifically be those two years exclusively. Do you think this is the best we've played in say, 10 years?

We had a big year with toddy on fire in 2013, but do you think the team effort has been more important to us this year than previously?

still got a couple of rounds to go but last 10 years i would say the 2008 team.
joint minor premiers 38 points, 17wins 7 losses.

Slowly changing. Still think that side defended better. And had more players playing near their best whereas many of this side have a lot of growth left in them.

Yeah true AB. For me I find there's far more excitement and unpredictability in the current team and I love that.

I agree HB, but Cronulla being Cronulla, I am waiting for that thing to happen that makes the house of cards collapse. I'm hoping like mad we've had our fair share of **** this year (Fifita's, etc.) and it's onwards and upwards.

I'm old so I can't even remember 2013 much or who was there but yes, I love the way we play at the moment. If we can get through Parra on the weekend, I reckon the boys will be primed to kick Manly's ass.

The side now ****s over that, except for the halves. Plus Greg Bird and I guess a younger Paul G. That front row is a bit more Harmen, but probably not better if both play at their best.

I'd probably transplant Noddy and Bird (back then) into our current side. Probably Seymour too, just as he's more of a half.

Probably have the cov ahead of both our wingers too and it's a side that should beat any team.

I would take brett Kearney and Kimmorley and place them in our current team.

Swap Homes and Gordon so that Homes is the fullback and we would be amazing.
