Just wanted to get some thoughts on this.

Are we looking at 2013 as a potential premiership year or is 2014 where we can do it?

I think if we can stay injury free this season, we can give the top 4 a real shot, but we are still short of a quality outside back IMO.

2014 is where we will fire I think. We should look to sign an outside back and a hooker for 2014 with hopefully Townsend coming through and being able to partner Carney in the halves. Plus the team should have gelled well and know how to play along side each other by 2014.

I would hope that we would start every season with the intention of winning the premiership. Particuarly with a roster like we have next year.

That's if Carney is in the squad come 2014, we should be aiming for back-to-back premiers.

We finished in the top 8 this year, couple games we were beaten by 1 point & 1 game the last 20 seconds, pretty close to being top 4 already. Add the current recruits to the ones we are losing, top 4 should be a minimum that the Sharks should be aiming for.

Is it kick off yet?

Have we not learnt as shark supporters to never get ahead of ourselves?
Lets just hope for more consistency next year

Yeah i'm hoping for more consistency next year plus more of an attacking style of footy. I don't think we could win a premiership with our 'grinding' style we played this season.

Why not both?

Seriously, we have an improved roster for 2013, yes we can beat all the teams but we still lack week to week intensity to say we are good things, who knows by mid to two thirds of the way through season 2013 we may end up being that team that can score points from anywhere on the field as well as that hard arse team who everyone rates & sees as the yard stick, its hard to believe things can change that quick but you never know.

All I know is, injuries aside, we are heading into season 2013 with our best squad with the most amount of depth for some time.

Carney is the guy we need to wrap up, I think his time at Cronulla so far has matured him a little. He's been in the spot light, dealt with pressure of Origin, Injury, another scandal and finals, Sharks stood by him, didnt put **** on him, and left him to be his own man. He's allowed a beer, not to be under house arrest like the Roosters wanted.

We've shown faith in him, I think get the cheque book out, cos if we lose him, we wont sign another 5/8 like him. Cronulla need to give him some responsibility, I think he can be a face behind teh club, like Jeremy Smith was, like side kick to Gal. I think putting some good mature players like Heighno and Lewis in the squad, with Gallen, Ross and Morris, he's got that grounded atmosphere around him, compared to the bondi scene, a team of young players.
The club needs to invest in him, give him some great responsibilities on and off the field and he will stay. If Sticky poached him, he'd be put on the paddock and not given a **** about off it. Which is where he will come undone.

I think it will take a while next year to gel. So I don't expect a premiership. I expect us to finish in the 8 and compete in the finals but still a few finishers off a premiership.

We have a lot of structuring, combining and getting all these new guys to gel. This will take considerable time I reckon.

Trials & the first few rounds we will be like babies playing in their poo.

It's what combinations, team work and effectiveness we develop in that period that will determine our season thereafter.

Thats about the best thing Ive ever read from you B&B. There's hope yet.

I reckon you can add the fitness of Todd Carney as a massive factor in determining our season as well.

Personally I reckon we'll go alright in 2013. We'll make it to the preliminary final and go down fighting (unlike Melbourne in 2008... urrgh).

2014 I consider our danger year.

As soon as Robson is out of the halves then we will be real contenders for the next few years. Can't wait to see Gal lift that trophy.
