I'll take Bukuya over Toops on the bench. Other than that spot on.

bukuya's not bad cover for the back row though even though his form dropped off at the end of the year. flanno said in the article that heighno and gal will rotate lock meaning 2nd row positions are sorted with lewis and wade. the bench kind of picks itself. with the backs i think leutele will carve up. i also think there that is daylight between robson to chad. with gordan at fb thats pretty much the team sorted.

Overall, that's a relatively small starting pack. But I guess Gallen plays like a bigger man anyway, so it could be ok. Be interesting to see how it would work bring on the bigger guys (Ross and Fifita) a bit later on.

Agree with the logic but its a small pack. Concerns me how they'd go up against the bulldogs or cowboys monsters.

I agree too. I think that's why we'll see Gal start on the left again, with Heighno slotting in to Smith's spot and two of the big props starting.

If I were Flano, I'd probably look to start Fifita this year instead of Ross. Use him a little like Dogs used Kasiano- soak up the initial punishment, take him off after 10-15 minutes and get a more mobile bloke on. Plus I think the grinding toughness of Ross would balance out the looser style of Tupou etc from the bench.

8) Gibbs
9) De Gois
10) Fifita
11) Heignington (Ruck)
12) Lewis (Right)
13) Gallen (c) (Starting left, moving to prop after 10-15 minutes when Graham would come on for Fifita)

14) Ross (Interchanging with Gibbs mostly. Guarantees some tuffness and no-nonsense go forward from an otherwise ballplaying, smallish bench)
15) Tupou (interchanging mostly with Heigno, but as cover for the edge backrow slots as well)
16) Graham (Coming on after 10-15 minutes and playing out the game)
17) Morris (Hopefully Lichaa by later in the year)

Gee AB, imo I reckon Fifita is more mobile than Ross, I know Fifita is carrying a bit of excess pudding but I still think he has Ross covered for agility, Fifita does get a bit "arm grabby" when tired but that is more to do with his fitness, get rid of the pudding that fitness base would improve as well.

Sorry in what way is it small?

Only real change is Smith(6 ft, 100kg) out and Lewis(6"2, 106kg) in and Bukuya(6 ft, 93kg) to the bench with Heighington (6"2, 101kg) into the starting line up. We've got bigger...

We also lead the NRL in metres gained last year did we not?

Wade isn't very big for a backrower and Gallen is a pretty small front rower.

I agree about Gal, I think its time, we have the depth in the backrow to cover now and moving to the front might help the longevity of his career.

I just hope he doesn't play 80 minutes every week if he moves to prop. I think it's a better balanced pack with Gal in the front row too.

Yeah me too, gotta start to try to prolong his career now, maybe 65-70 a week, trouble is, gotta convince Gal.

SPOT ON

Am also liking the idea of Gal having a spell at some point of the game.

Stuart playing him for 80 minutes in Origin in the middle of the field, blunted Gal for the rest of the season.

Will Robson be halfback next year? If he is I hope him and Carney can improve on their fifth tackle options, was pulling my hair out the back half of the season

Thats a good point you've got there about Fifita next season, I like that idea about him starting next year for the first 15-20, Ross for some reason wasn't particularly impressing me towards the backend of last year so maybe having him off the bench would be better, anyway, Heighington, I would prefer him to have our lock forward role in the up coming season but other than that I like it, he played Lock for the Tigers, Galls can shift to the left and play out the side

Wade is fine for a backrower. He is listed at 93kg(more then Bukuya) but I would say he has put on 5kg at the very least over the last 12 months. The bloke is thick and his game as a backrower is built at running at halves and whacking blokes which he excelled at.. Gallen does not get dominated so his size is not really a problem. Size only becomes a problem if you can't go forward and we have some real metre eaters so it is not an issue. We have arguably one of the best put together packs in the comp, which is built very different to other top packs such as the Cows and the Dogs.

I am a fan of Graham starting which would mean Gallen to the front row but I am not sure you can carry Ross and Fifita coming off the bench. Not the best balance... I do like the idea of Fifita starting, he was great for us in 2012.

well thought out... i honestly see wade starting from the bench (alot of people on here wont even consider it) the only concern is size.. we might have a forward pack with a huge motor but there will be games against the bigger packs like canberra or the bulldogs where we will be pushed around.. but it is nothing a good game plan couldnt work around..
