How are we travelling so far Sharks fans in 2013?

Do we get an A, B, C or possibly a D rating at this stage. Give me your rating and let me know your thoughts. I've tabled some questions as well, feel free to pen your answers to this as well.

A- going great guns well above expectations
B- doing well, a few issues to sort out but generally happy.
C- have real concerns about making the 8
D- no chance of making the 8 and not happy with the team's form or structure.

Here are the questions:

Have we shaken off the distractions of ASADA? Not all players have

Who is your player of the year so far? Luke Lewis

What do we need to improve in to win more games? Recruit a centre before June 30

Do we have what it takes to make top 4 or 8? 6-8, but only if we improve a lot. Other clubs will be starting a form surge soon.

Will we retain the Peach? Yes. Don't think Penrith or other clubs would pay megabucks for him at this stage.

Are you happy with the coach? Happy with his strategy, but not necessarily tactics.

Are you happy with the front office? Will depend what they do with the CEO and other positions.

Thanks everyone look forward to your responses. For mine, I'm giving us a B at this stage. Despite last nights loss I think we can still make the 8 but need to be more consistent.

Like others I'm probably a bit in between B and C. I think we'll make the 8 but it's more as a result of other teams around us being inconsistent. Top 4 is beyond us whilst we have people such as Robson, Morris and Degois playing in the spine.
C- have real concerns about making the 8
D- no chance of making the 8 and not happy with the team's form or structure.

Here are the questions:

Have we shaken off the distractions of ASADA? I don't know. Only the players and those close to them would know the answer to that.

Who is your player of the year so far? Fifita by a fair margin. He has surpassed my expectations in a short period of time.

What do we need to improve in to win more games? As mentioned, you can only do so much when you have players in key positions that lack creativity like Robson, Morris and De Gois. Unless we fix this we won't be finishing above 6th, maybe 5th at best. In order to beat the top 4 teams we need them to be off their game slightly, we can't beat them at their best imo.

Do we have what it takes to make top 4 or 8? See above. No.

Will we retain the Peach? I hope so but I worry with Flanno's obsession with incumbants and unwillingness to give young guys a chance. I couldn't blame Peachey if he left. In fact if his manager has his career in mind he should try and persuade him to leave.

Are you happy with the coach? No. I can't comprehend how guys like Robson and dickfingers are continually picked no matter how bad they play.

Are you happy with the front office? I've switched off from following it.

Thanks everyone look forward to your responses. For mine, I'm giving us a B at this stage. Despite last nights loss I think we can still make the 8 but need to be more consistent.

I thought Essendon were behind us in the investigation though. By that I mean ASADA started investigating us before them, so if anything we'd lose players before them?

Nope the NRL investigation was put on hold while they interviewed all the Essendon players. That is done and ASADA will be reviewing now to see if any sanctions can be recomended to ADRVP.

C+ for me.

We have not shaken off the effects of ASADA but its not effecting us as much as it was.

My player of the year so far would be fifita.

We really need to add some more creativity into our attack and find some way of fixing our wide defensive faults.

We have what it takes to make the 8 and if we improve the above areas the top 4.

I'm not confident of us retaining Peachey which is very disheartening.

I'm happy with his relationship with our key players he seems to be keeping them very happy. I'm also relatively happy with his ability in recruiting. On the other hand our lack of attacking flair is largely his fault. From what we know about his treatment of our juniors I'm very disappointed in him.

I was very happy with DI and don't know too much about our current board tbh.

C+ We're looking like being one of about 6 or 7 teams being on roughly the same points towards the end of the season. Too inconsistent.

Here are the questions:

Have we shaken off the distractions of ASADA? Just can't tell. Nothing is being said, it's not used as an excuse anymore but you don't know what's going on behind the scenes. Regardless, it can't be used as an excuse anymore.

Who is your player of the year so far? Fifita

What do we need to improve in to win more games? Hold the ball. Shoot Ben Pomeroy and drop players who share his **** shadow

Do we have what it takes to make top 4 or 8? We have what it takes, the team to do it, will we? Nah, probably not.

Will we retain the Peach? Nope

Are you happy with the coach? Nope

Are you happy with the front office? Love me some Noyce

C- have real concerns about making the 8 - Need to stop simply photocopying the team list each week
D- no chance of making the 8 and not happy with the team's form or structure.

Here are the questions:

Have we shaken off the distractions of ASADA? To a degree I think, but who really knows

Who is your player of the year so far? Fifita - if Gal got outta the way and Lewis was fulltime Lock it could be a different answer

What do we need to improve in to win more games? **** me, where do I start? Drop Pom, move up quickly (in a ****ing line) in D for starters

Do we have what it takes to make top 4 or 8? 8 yes - but not 4 (we're in the 8 now with a negative F&A)

Will we retain the Peach? Doubt it

Are you happy with the coach? No

Are you happy with the front office? Can't really say - haven't seen ot heard jack from them

Thanks everyone look forward to your responses. For mine, I'm giving us a B at this stage. Despite last nights loss I think we can still make the 8 but need to be more consistent.

Here are the questions:

Have we shaken off the distractions of ASADA? No. A we cant sign sposnorship and its effecting the bottom line. secondarilty it would be in the back of certain players minds.

Who is your player of the year so far? Andrew Fifita. Plays SOO. goes beast mode on multiple occasions. has scored 4 trys at prop this season. he's been a great player for us.

What do we need to improve in to win more games? 1 get a centre before june 30. 2. play gallen at prop, he stifles the attak in the second row. i would laso look to move to a 1 hooker system long term with Lichaa if he warrants it but thats a few years away. i would also play peachey more. pommeroy less.

Do we have what it takes to make top 4 or 8? we will come 6th, win a first round playoff game and then get crushed by one of the top 4 sides. they are that much better it isnt funny.

Will we retain the Peach? No. i believe he will sign elsewhere which is a shame.

Are you happy with the coach? No. i beleive Flanagan to be a poor coach, who whilst liked by the players does not have the tactical nous to win the competition. i also believe he is extremely lucky to have kept his job given the Kavanagh report and the fact that other people at the time have all fallen on their sword or been sacked.
Flanagan needs, NEEDS to play Gallen at prop when he comes back. it is painfully obvious that he gets the ball too much in wide areas and stifles the centres and flow of our attack.

Are you happy with the front office? No. come one man! This ASADA thing should never have happened. regardless of what may occur in the future poor management led to this and other slipshod practices. all sacked deserved to be IMO. There was a lack of risk assessment here that was grave.
i hope we keep noyceand cullen long term.
the new board i cant comment on, but i doubt they will be all that dynamic.
whils the previous admin must be commended for their work with the development and keeping the club alive, it was obvious something went wrongin numerous places.
also what happened to shark energy. 3 year deal. gone after 5 months. never explained?

I believe this team could be a 15-16 win Regular season team at its peak.
there is a slim chance we could go all the way but i highly doubt it. we need better attacking players in the backs. we also need to move to a 1 hooker 4 forward bench rotation.

Have we shaken off the distractions of ASADA? yes and no i think we dont see it, im sure it will be back with a vengence right at a crucial time.

Who is your player of the year so far? fifita, bench prop one of our top try scorers hahaha

What do we need to improve in to win more games? poms is such a weak link in our teams this season, man its killing us.

Do we have what it takes to make top 4 or 8? top 8. top 4 teams are nautical miles ahead of anyone.

Will we retain the Peach? i think so. he hasnt signed anywhere yet, all very TC like, contracts dont get written in a week.

Are you happy with the coach? can no longer say hes a rookie coach, whilst i put my head in my hands sometimes, there surely has to be some method to the maddness

Are you happy with the front office? pretty disspointed so far, all the fire works and "sweeping to power", still awaiting results.....

-B. asada really hit the team. A terrible round 4-8. Team seems to have mentally recovered but hard to comprehend the differences between the souths and storm game. Worrying. A have some real positional issues which will not be solved this year.

Asada will only disappear when the investigation is finalised and the NRL acts/or not. Has had, and will continue to impact (stadium sponsor, main sponsor etc)

Fifita. No need to detail why.

Consistency and better tactically. It will be hard with the top teams, they will keep exposing our weaknesses (especially in the back line). But it's not just the players, it's how they are utilised in attack and positioned in defence. Bellamy has been a master at using three players together with another 8-10 honest workers to win premierships. His tactical structure and play are able to 'deal/mask' the weaknesses of his team very well.

I think we can make real inroads into this comp. very serious comment. But our consistency and the coach's tactical play needs to improve. Pound for pound, all sides above us have, on paper, gaping holes. It's how the coach develops those players and the team around them.

Hard to say. Will play consistent FG next year with bukuya and toupo gone. From there it is a question of money. I don't believe he'll play any more FG in any other top 8 type side. Always a shame to lose a local.

Generally yes. Without Flanagan many of our players would not have signed, and possibly would have walked had he been dismissed that includes carney who made it very clear. He has to be given credit for his impact on players. We have a wuality signed team for the next three years. His work. He does not, however, IMHO possess the tactical game as yet. For example, We have positional weaknesses which he he can deal better with by utilising other players' positional play.

I assume you mean the back office?!? Ie board, management, PR etc. the asada situation was the worst example of corporate handling I have ever seen (even by our clubs standards). For a board to have no resignations whilst terminating executive type staff shows the lack of professional responsibility. To then send an 'advisor' (Kavanagh) to front the media with another board member whilt the others stayed in the boardroom was nothing short of a professional joke. PR etc been good. 10,000 members. Done well.
