They beat Manly and Easts as well. I know it was around Origin time, but still...they've been going alright lately.

Not sure we SHOULD win against a red hot Warriors team over there and a red hot Canberra team at home. They will both be very tough games. If we win one of them I'll be happy.

Haha, what can I say. Little optimistic perhaps, but we should believe we can win those games if we want any chance at getting past wk 1 in finals.
Roosters are red hot, and I honestly dont believe we have the side to beat them right now, unless they have their worst game of season. but I do think we should be able to compete in all the other games at least, and with a little luck take home the chocolates......again....optimist ;)

Carney would have to be favourite now with Sutton out for 4 weeks?

Should have thrown that $50 on it a few weeks ago

I think for every win we get, Carney will receive at least 1 point. Play makers generally tend to get the points over forwards anyway. But every point counts.

Anyone reckon for rookie of the yr George Burgess will be at better odds than $1.01.

When you have fanboys like Fittler and Joey Johns voting. Yes.
To be honest i'm sick of the burgess hype. Big solid blokes yes. But for a sport where the footy media (blokes like Fatty, Sterlo, Johns, Fittler etc) have such a problem with players leaving the NRL and keeping blokes here, they love the fact that this club imported 4 players (obviously room had to be made for them to come here too). Im all for better players coming to the comp, but the league media can't bitch about players leaving to go overseas when there is more and more finding their way to the game

I agree the media do get caught up in the hype & push players but you can't deny George Burgess has been amazing this yr.

no not at all. Im just referring to the poor press a bloke gets for going overseas, or how forgotten he becomes but the hype on imported players is ridiculous.

Marquee player allowance in the cap and 2 more teams would ensure so much more in the way of players staying here, and attracting the star over seas players

Didn't watch the knights game did you?
Mullen would be at the top for sure.

This week will probably determine the winner

But in saying that I can't see Cronk losing

the knights game? wasnt ben hunt voted best on ground?

carney would have picked up 10 points minimum in our last 4 wins. he would be close to the top now

as for rookie of the year, milford, moylan* and tohu harris are all trying to get it off George

*i dont rate moylan, but he is the panthers saviour apparently

i think it will be down to toddy and cronk now. cronk would have taken 2, if not 3 last week, and id only give toddy 1, so the next few weeks will be very telling, and we have to win as many as possible to keep him a chance. with GI and sutto out i think its down to these 2 only, newcastle havent gone great guns recently, and have a tough run home. also gidleys coming back which will relieve mullen of having to do everything in attack.
Storm will win close to, if not all their remaining games, so carneys got his work cut out for him.

George's off field disgression may (unfairly) cost him. I don't think Milford has played enough this season though (12-13 games?), and its hard to star in a losing side, and I see them losing a few in this tail end of the season.

Also, does George qualify as a rookie? Since be played a few games last season?

I agree. But when you have Slater and Smith running around you, it's hard to score all the points, unlike toddy.
