Not trying to be counter productive, but I personally am not a big fan of this CS67 range. Would love to know what others think.

Honestly, in the last couple seasons we have really made some steps towards modernising our merch! The vintage range that was brought out when ISC was our sponsor was great, and was a big success with supporters (as can be seen with people wearing it throughout the community),the club have a nice shirt just released with the 1980's style blue shark with CRONULLA SUTHERLAND underneath it, looks unreal! (i bought one). The new era caps released at the start of this year are awesome too however in regards to the new era hats we have already began to fall behind, as other clubs continue to bring out new designs, snapbacks, etc. It just seems like this is a bit of a step backwards. But yes, dissapointed with the CS67 - looks very kmart tbh. Again, i know people within the club make great efforts but this is MY OPINION, NOT GOSPEL. Please don't take offence! btw i'm a frequent buyer of sharks merch like so many others on this forum, and will continue to be. Just not this CS67 merch.. Still hanging out for some dope CSFC gear to be released in the new year.

L'il brudda... you've obviosly got some ideas and have your ear to the street with the younger generation.

Swing by my place at some stage and we'll design some stuff that speaks to you and your generation and I'll present it to the merch manager.

I can't make any promises but there is no harm in trying.

Actually, I wouldn't mind using the Sharks Facebook page to get a bit of a design competition happening.

we need a range we can market to a store like citybeach. stick to csfc as most kis wont care what it means, hell if they can sell dexter they can sell csfc. Out of the new range i could see the singlet (without the sponsors on it) and maybe the classic t selling and ladies t. No kid would wear the hats. Some boardies would be a nice addition maybe some track pants. Make some stuff in the style of unit etc and the kids will love it

A snap back with a black body, blue brim and snap with the letters CS67 in helvetica and you would sell loads. Cost about $5 to make and you could easily sell them for $35

To me, merchandise could be an area where the Club could lead the rest of the NRL because we have certain 'natural' advantages. Specifically, I think the Club needs to start with a few decisions:

1) Clearly delineate between its 'Sportswear' range (the jerseys, the training gear, the socks, the tracksuits etc), the associated paraphernalia and the 'Casual' wear (the vintage range).

Stay the course with the Sportswear range, but change the approach to the other two categories.

2) Commit to the 'hoops' jersey long-term (from as soon as it can be changed which I believe to be 2013?) and brand the rest of the associated paraphernalia in the BW&B 'hoops' like St George/Illawarra do with the red 'V'.

We are blessed with one of the best jersey designs in the NRL (the 'hoops'). The great success story of NRL merchandise is St George and how they have managed to maintain the red 'V' and build up to the point where it is almost a ubiquitous symbol of all things St G/Illawarra. They put it on caps, they put it on waterbottles, they even name their membership program after it. But its not like a 'V' jersey design is particularly unusual- other clubs just sold out earlier and changed.

We could do the same with the 'hoops'. Almost all 'Cronulla Sharks' branding should include BW&B stripes and/or a Shark.

Some items I would love to see added to this division are swimwear, towels and raincoats/ponchos. We're a beachside Club and you can't a get pair of togs with the Sharks branding! All three would cope with both 'Sports' branding (the hoops) and also 'Casual/vintage' branding. I would love some boardies like this:

(Apologies for my terrible graphic design skills)

3) Make the Casual (vintage) range the focus of the Club's design efforts and look to expand it in to the mainstream market.

I was particularly disappointed with this year's CS67 range because I really think its the area where the Club should be looking to expand. To me, the footy related market is just about saturated and both its sales and growth in sales rely on the team doing well and more members signing up. Conversely, the vintage range can reach people who don't necessarily want to wear sports gear (particularly women). Want more people to support the Sharks by wearing their stuff? Give people more options.

One of our other natural advantages is that like the Roosters and Bondi, the word/place "Cronulla" has a marketable profile all of its own. Most of the other Clubs don't have that- they are all either superceded by another brand that represents the area (the All Blacks for instance), are vague locations (Wests/Balmain) or aren't a particularly marketable area (Parramatta). We should be looking to turn 'Cronulla (Sharks)' in to a fashion label that's worn by different people everyday- not just by footy heads.

Obviously the popularity of anything is a matter of taste and the Club needs to aim for broad appeal to keep costs low, but I really think that the massive proliferation of new, smaller clothing design firms in Australia is evidence that small-scale design is becoming increasingly affordable and popular. Why can't we have creative locals (like Louis) designing a range that would sell in the Shire? How about getting a competition out to the local high schools and offering a decent prize (money) and seeing what they come up with? Get the stuff modeled by locals and our more photogenic stars and star supporters, get it on Home And Away and most importantly, get it stocked by local stores. Give it some edge. Have a Summer range and a Winter range and aim for high turnover.

I would also love to see a US style bomber jacket in the BW&B- perhaps like that old Pepsi-era jacket and a plain hoodie with something simple like 'Cronulla' on it like in the University/GAP style. Perhaps even that 'Flanno' in BW&B that was mentioned when he signed on!

Obviously I have no idea what the Club's sales figures are and where they make their money, but from what I've seen on the website, most of the more out-there paraphernalia doesn't seem to change much from year to year which makes me guess that it isn't a big seller. Focus on the core footy stuff, brand the daylights out of the paraphernalia, and focus most of the creative energy on everyday fashion and get that out there, being seen in the community.
