Like the diehard fan I am, I went and watched the boys train through the gates of the field they practice on beside Toyota Stadium just before Christmas on my way to the beach. Ryan Tongia looked awfully shaky under some of the not-so-high kicks that were being put up. Williams/Mills on the wings for mine with Best/Collis in the centres.

No offence but i hope you are so far wrong its not funny. Doesnt sound good but I must admit and from what I saw in the four nations it sounds about right. I know he was way out of his depth in the four nations just saying it makes it easier to believe what iShark is saying.

I'd still take Tongia over Williams any day. Do you think Williams will develop any further than he is already? I don't think so. Where as Tongia can only get better from he on out. Much more speed and that is what I'm primarily looking for in my backline. Other attributes come next.

I actually do. He had a great season in 2009, a horrible one in 2010. Its mostly a feeling, but I think he could well improve dramatically and be a very solid winger for us. Nothing special, but solid in the same way a guy like Michael Robertson is for Manly.

You can't just throw a heap of young guys in together- it puts too much pressure on them and on the older ones to lead and look after the kids rather than focusing on their own jobs.

Personally, I think we should start with Williams and Mills or Tongia, whoever is more ready. Hopefully the one who misses out starts the season well and scores plenty of tries in the NSW Cup and forces his way in early in the season.

If you look at the 2011 season outlook I think you will find I for one do want Tongia. I know you most likely weren't refering to me but I thought I would clear it up incase I was included.

However if he can't handle the high ball it would be a horrible idea to put him in. I'm not saying he can or not I always assumed he could cause he is a fullback/winger. It would be Kelly at fullback all over again.

agree AB, I read the leader article about him today & I was thinking he would be a handy pick up for us.
I have always had a bit of time for him as a player & a bloke, we had a work function thing on where he was there at the function (Parra had to supply somer players for the function) anyway this was just before he made first grade debut. I told him I was a big Sharks fan, he had a bit of a laugh & told me he was as well growing up, he actually joked w/ me & said if you know of anyone at the sharks let them know about me cause I want to play for them.

I have followed his progress since then.

Yes he has had some shocker games in his career but he has also had some good ones, he is a handy goal kicker from a off the field point of view is a damm nice bloke & probably means a good clubman which has some degree of impotance in todays game & football club runnings.
