Some very interesting reading there. Overall, I think we have done pretty well, especially compared to a few team. Souths and Dragons notably with no gains!

I find it quite amusing that we are listed at $67 to win the title yet the Cowboys, who were a clear last this year, have lost some real talent and gained only one or two decent players and a few nuffies but still come in at $51.

Premiership odds are often misunderstood.

They're not wooden spoon odds.
They're not a probability figure.

They're a probability figure mixed with the popularity of people putting money on the team to win the premiership.

For example, Brisbane will always have more money put on them than the Sharks and for that reason Brisbane's pay-out figure will always be less than their actual odds of winning the GF.

Sharks need a high figure to entice people to put money on them.

They missed out Noddy for retirement for bulldogs I would link his retirement but cant find the Noddy thread. Thought it would come up 1st or atleast near the top if i typed in Brett Kimmorley.

i think melborne will slide a bit this year have lost some really good players

They will still have a very good side.

I agree Mebourne will always have players that stand up and they still have Cronk, Smith and Slater. All they need is some big boppers to run hard and they are good to go.

I am amazed at how dogs are under the cap. They must of thrown some money at Keating and Hodkinson to get them to come over as both parra and seagirls wanted them to stay and to lure Pritchard from Penrith and sign Eastwood is fishy. We should poach Greenburg he knows his business.

I must agree with that statement Blair and they only lost Hannant and Pattern in terms of big name players. They will miss Pattern alot but if he was there i would be chucking a quite few on them 2 win the comp.

Nah the Cowboys have recruited ridiculously well. They did lose two good players in Watts and Mason however they got rid of dead weight like Luke O'Donnell, Steve Southern, and Carl Webb.

Their gains are just awesome though. They're problem has definitely been in the pack and they're adding Tariq Sims who was head and shoulders the best forward in the NYC, just smashed it. Stats were immense. Gavin Cooper who's an incredibly under-rated second rower and Dallas Johnson.

Their backline is mouth watering too.

Yeah I agree with this. Cowboys have recruited very well. Personally I think Luke O'Donnell is a good player and that Mason is rubbish but we would be splitting hairs. Although if your argument around LOD centred on the issue of him being injury and suspension prone I might have to agree.

Yea i agree with Wilson to a degree.
They have recruited very well, they now have 1 of the best backlines in the comp.
The loss of O'Donnell is easily covered by Johnson plus some extra coverage.
Mason played very well for them so is a pretty big loss but i think Sims is capable of doing a good job from the bench, young Sims iv never seen play but is meant to be a gun.
Rapira is a huge loss for them.
Watts is a big loss but Payne has shown he is a capable 80minute hooker.
Carl Webb and Steve Southern were dead wait Cowboys will be better for not having them.
Williams and Taumata didnt do much for them so arent real losses.
Their backline recruitment was great and adds to a backline that already boosted a pretty impressive look.

Over all i think they will be alot better next season and if thing click they could go along way.

Yeah, I am with Wilson too. For me the cowboys have recruited the best. Spent money wisely. Now they just need to get their act together which is their biggest problem if you ask me.

This thread is a Hitman thread, where has that lad been? He would come in here with his ultimate optimism and eventually not only be crushed emotionally but financially as well.

Looking at that. I think Melbourne will still make the top 8. I think the teams that were around us last season (Bulldogs and Cowboys) will be big improvers, looking at our list compared to their's, I'm a bit worried we are going to be left behind.

Melbourne Storm will not make the eight- Terrible old soft forward pack with no depth!

Still have Adam Blair, Cameron Smith, Bryan Norrie and Sika Manu. Jamain Lowe isn't to bad either. Their forward pack is still good enough, and with Slater at fullback and Cronk at halfback, this team will still win its fair share of games, wont win the title, but I still think they will make the 8.
