I honestly dont know what the best way to go is, but your last line seems close to the money.Intergrated teams also seem like a solution like the nrl, as stated in previous post

And what do you expect to happen then? Cancel all sporting events where a black players vs white players? Restrict all competitions to white vs white and black vs black?

Or maybe we could just take it with a grain of salt that there will always be a minority of people who start racist taunts, and concentrate on the quality of the competition not the colour of the competitors.
