Watching the dogs of war doco now. Pretty cool to see a season portrayed in a documentary. One of my mates brothers played centre for dogs in that gf. Was a good game too

anyone watching?

Just got home from work Sharks vs Broncos 1989 play off.

Its just really made me realise the quality of a Sharks supporter. Theres no band wagon to be on with the Sharks, supporters are all die hard. You dont get on the Sharks for success or accolades. Most of us inherited it like a box of old ****. But listening to the crowd when theres a hit or a break or a try, how passionate the Sharks supporters are about their teams success.

McGaw just got knocked out, trainer picks him up, pats him on the back and off he goes. Footy without liabilities. I like it

The old shoulder pads etc bring back all the memories from when i played as a kid. Never wore head gear or a mouth guard, but had the lace up shoulder pads before Velcro ones were out.

Ahhh but it would be nice to have a bandwagon for people to get on. Bloody hard work being a Sharkies fan.

I know what ya mean mate. But i just love that 99% of Sharks supporters are supporters. Not just im going for Souths because channel 9 tells me to. Its going to make that premiership even sweeter. Im 28 and followed the Sharks as long as ive watched the sport (say 1990), most of you blokes have done the same but from even further back. I dont know how people in northern NSW just over night became die hard Melbourne Storm supporters......who did they support before 1998? Why change?

True but you could possibly say the same when we came into the comp in 1967. I know it's a bit different because it was a local team, but I'm sure a lot of people in the Shire supported other teams before 67. My old man was a Bears supporter but changed to the Sharks in 67.

I know what you mean though.

no doubt. If there wasnt support for RL in the Shire in 67 then a team wouldnt have been formed period.

But if you changed to Cronulla in 1967 from whoever and still support them now, then really you are the greatest fan this club could ever have.

I just mean i have so many die hard Storm fans who became storm fans in 1999 (funny that) who were previously Dogs or Knights fans.......I dont know what makes people change. Im sure we've all wished we supported a club that didnt **** on us all the time, but now matter what i couldnt support another team

Yeah me neither. I can understand young kids changing teams but not adults.

ill admit as a real young fella i thought i was sterlo, had a parra jersey and all. Only because mick was older and got to be the Sharks when we played in the back yard. Plus i had a blonde mullet. Now mick has sterlos hair. And when we were in primary school we went from being Taree United to Taree Panthers and wore black/red/green/yellow in the first season, plus we had Matt and Phil Adamson come up and do coaching with us so we kinda became Panthers fans only because of being star struck.
