Yeah im definitely not complaining about being 4-1. Did we play overly well? Not really, in fact I was at the stadium last night and the atmosphere felt like a tennis match, silence briefly interrupted by polite applause when someone scored due to it being a bludger of a game. But these points we’re banking early just might end up being the difference at the end of the season and if they are, no one will care that we didnt play well last night.

Sounds like Rabbitohs put up a good enough fight to potentially have spared JD for now.
If they were going to sack him now leading into bye would be best time - may have early some time with squad to try turn things around.

I did think, while outmatched and unlucky with injury, they did play fairly well.
Yeah safe for a few weeks - no interim would have been too keen on the Panthers and Storm match ups anyway ..

Definitely not the most inspiring of wins, happy enough to score 30 odd, probably would have rather had us limit them to only a try or 2 but really we cant discount how hard Souths pushed all game.

Look at teams like Melbourne - they are scraping by with wins and not playing well at all. Though they are banking important points early in the season until they find their feet. Sound familiar?

We as supporters tend to want perfection from round 1. I bet there are at least 10 or 12 teams that wish they were in our position (and with our squad).

Things will click eventually. Injuries will determine how far we go.

Souths seemed to do pretty well to hang in there and score the amount of try's they did. Sharks defense looked better than 22 points against suggests but all it takes is one missed tackle or bad read in FG and you are getting scored on.

But structurally and attitude wise I don't think our defense let us down too often so yea Souths did well to keep us honest and keeping playing football all game. Our energy, enthusiasm and more class in our backline got us the cookies along with stella games from our lock and hooker.

Our D was strong but unfortunately had some moments

Souths didn't look like a team phoning it in or tanking, just a bit disorganized and lacking some key troops and not as physically fit as our our side.

That crowd was gunning for a Rabbits victory / come back so team did well and finally put a lesson in place about turning up and not being complacent. We went there with a mission and played well to achieve it but even then it was never 100% comfortable or a sure thing.

Since we went down 18-0 in that Raiders game seems we have switched ourselves on and found a spark, though the bye to freshen up wouldn't have hurt either

The issues at Souffs is more than just the head coach. The whole club from the CEO down need to put their hands up and take ownership of the problem.

You can't tell him the way Latrell and others have been treated differently to the rest of the team is solely on the coach.

Have done the first half of the fancy stats.

A few interesting takeaways.

- Zero handling errors. Just the Kennedy thing and the Nicho kick that went way dead to give up a 7 tackle set
- Lots of set restarts and penalties though. The Wilton and disrupter ones were pretty soft so hard to blame either player on those
- Other than for kicks, or to dive on a loose ball or pass from dummy half, Trindall touched the ball just once.
- just two middle forward runs in the attacking 25
- not a single good ball set other than the one where they scored on tackle 0 from the scrum
- zero long shifts. A few 2-3 pass shifts to edges around midfield
- Ronnie wasn’t just a beast on the tries. Some of his yardage carries, tackles and kick defusals were outstanding
- Souths were very good

Basically the entire first half was an arm wrestle where both teams were completing at a high rate and put their kicks in the right places. The Sharks effectively spent almost the entire 40 minutes either defending or running yardage sets. 16-6 at half time after that type of 40 minutes was a great result.

You can still give them points. Just on presso night they'll have an asterix next to their name if ineligible to win due to suspensions
There might be an * in the back of the judges mind when thinking of who to give points to though (Consciously or subconsciously).

ie
”should I give points to someone who is now ineligible?”
