I thought we looked really well in defence. The Dogs had more then enough chances but we kept them away from their try line a fair bit. I'm very pleased we kept them away from our line so much.

I thought Puru looked better than Atkinson at half today. Just seemed to play straight when everything else was sideways
Yeah Atkinson was a little “deer in headlights” first half I thought.

Picked up a bit 2nd half, but wasn’t pushing Tricky out of the 6

The dogs made plenty of errors (a lot unforced) close to the line letting us off the hook as well.
But it was pleasing to only concede 6 points.

IMO Atkinson would go okay outside a dominant half like Hynes, but isn't suited to sharing the playmaking duties just yet.

Puru isn't ready yet either, but if Nicho misses round 1 I'd probably go with a Tricky/Puru combo as Puru is the more natural half.

Do you think Puru would be ahead of Dykes thou?
Not to say Dykes blew us away during the trials (still finding his feet from his injury), but I would imagine he would get the gig first up in need

Inside our 20 I feel most were the result of a pressuring defence. Their shifts to their strike left edge was handled well & fell apart because they couldn't execute well enough to get past our D which was making good, fast reads & shutting things down.

Not that Dogs really offered a heap, youll take 1 conceded try (while down a guy) any day of the week.

Still the same old untimely errors either when we have good field possession or in that mid field which just puts the opposition right back in it.

In 2016 we won off discipline, no dumb ****.

Thought Iro showed good signs there when he came on. Some good runs plus a great run with defenders hanging off him.

Honestly I doubt we see too many variations to what we saw 1-17 last year, pending injuries of course. So really, Fitz is into his 3rd year with essentially the same guys, most of which he has either signed, or re-signed. No excuses now, this is the team he wants, he needs to get it to work

A very underwhelming performance. Lots of one out running & our defence was helped by poor Dogs handling. Not much to get excited about.

We were lucky Crichton went off to the sideline after 20 minutes.

Honestly, unlike most other teams, our team and a trial match was pretty useless. With practically no change to our top 17 and even top 30 over the off season, i guess they can be forgiven for not trying their guts out. I think they all know their spot.

I guess the one we all watched was Iro for the sake of hoping he can overtake Talakai.

Berrell looked like he was trying too hard.

His opportunity to impress so put a lot of pressure on himself.

I thought all our Props actually bent the line for a change , looked fit and BASHED their pack when we were defending.
Good signs as they know its gunna het hard to be in the top 17 each week
