This penalty should now be the yardstick for all poor behaviour by NRL players. Bet it's not though!

No it shouldn't. Even if someone does the exact same thing as the Fifitas, they should cop it worse as this penalty was obviously not a deterant.

Sharks media release

The Cronulla Sharks announced today that Andrew and David Fifita have both accepted six round suspensions for incident at an A Grade match conducted by the Penrith and District Junior Rugby League last month.

Andrew has also been fined $30,000 and will perform 25 hours of service to support junior Rugby League and match officials across the Cronulla Sutherland District Junior Rugby League.

In addition, he will provide a written apology to the match officials involved in the incident and undergo an appropriate development course.

In addition to his suspension, David will perform 25 hours of support to Junior Rugby League and match officials across the Cronulla Sutherland District Junior Rugby League.

He will apologise to the match officials involved and the Penrith and District Junior Rugby League.

The six-round NRL suspensions imposed on both players include rounds 21-26 of the current NRL Premiership season.

Sharks CEO Lyall Gorman said both players had expressed genuine remorse over the incident and the impact of the incident on on all parties.

Not ideal, now they'll be going into finals football underdone.

IMO this saga has been beyond laughable, the incident they're accused of is on par with Jennings smashing up the carparks boomgate, more or less nothing.

The most obvious media bias about this is that everything has been about Andrew. Not both of them.

Also that every report mentions junior match or junior ref......makes it much more dramatic than saying a 24 year old ref in an A grade match

Mate the media will always focus on the higher profile player. They're selling papers. Just life unfortunately.

yeah. But would have been good to get a game under their belts before the finals

Yeah read it wrong first off mate didn't register the "back a week before" bit. Its the little details, like playing the ball correctly.

Almost beer o'clock. I should be more cognitive after that.

Not to mention Matt Lodge.

He has sailed through unscathed.

Anyone know the details of the suspension or standing down, can they continue to train with the rest of the boys or are they 'quarantined' & must train by themselves?
