Congrats to you both mate
You really love giving it to supporters for not showing up don't you. I agree to an extent. Bit of drizzle I believe most people should be able to withstand.
However my Mrs who was 9 months pregnant (had the baby this morning) and myself left to go to the club just before half time to watch the rest to you must be considered fair weathered?
I can't blame anyone for not wanting their families to be in that
Sorry mate, I think you misunderstood what I was saying. I'm not having a go at people who didn't turn up, hell even I hard second thoughts about it! Hence the "pun intended" gag...
What I was saying was that those who are crazy enough to turn up in that are the nutter who will make some noise.
Sharks fans are notorious for being "fair weather" supporters. Many don't turn up when we aren't winning and those who do, don't make much noise.
After the first game that we lost, the next three games were absolutely terrible for atmospher. Even The Cage was embarrassingly quiet during the Titans game - and we were winning that up to the end!
Wade Graham said himself in the last press conference that he could hear the crowd get loud in the second half when the boys made some big hits. The crowd noise energises and lifts the team, this is a well known psychological effect.
We need to have a look at what our culture is at the Sharks. Do we want to be "loud and proud" or are we "too cool for school", which is how many seem to see themselves. The Seatlle Seahawks are renowned for becoming the loudest crowd in the NFL and, not coincidentally, one of the hardest teams to beat at home.
One of the main reasons I go to watch the game live is to feel and be part of the crowd. It's a very communal and, some would say, tribal experience.

Different code, but the crowd for Carlton v Essendon last weekend was 55,000. Usually it's 80,000. So that's a 30% drop because Carlton are crap and it was their home game. And Melbournians are meant to be more fanatical than Sydney people.
My point is all teams experiance a drop in crowd numbers when they're not travelling well. I don't believe our fans are any better or worse than others in that regard.
It's not necessarily the numbers I was referring to, it's the level of crowd involvement. Too many people seem to think they are "too cool" to get involved and make some noise. This is what we need to get rid of.
Shark Park used to be a graveyard for teams to play at. The crowd was loud and hostile and would pressure the ref's all night. As a result, we had a formidable win record at home. In recent times, the atmosphere has been terrible and, unsurprisingly, we lost ten games in a row at home.
Of course that's not the only reason but it's no coincidence that teams like the Broncos, Warriors, Storm and Cowboys are always tough to beat at home, no matter where they are travelling in the comp. Their home crowds are loud and parochial.
If being "too cool" for the 'I'm a shark, cause I've got heart' chant is wrong, I never want to be right. Just as the Sharks are notorious for being "fair weather fans" (need to see the stats for a bold claim like that), I'd also posit that sharks fans are notorious for being self righteous ****s like yourself.

Yeah but that's just how it is.
If you knew how to make people cheer you'd be getting paid millions by franchises around the world.
It's not as simple as making up a chant. It's embedded in the fans or something. And it's not as bad as all that. I couldn't care less if we have 15k people and are one of the quieter clubs. If we are scoring and winning there will be cheers
I actually agree in part with what iron is saying, our fans are far to quiet, even when we have 15k people there, there are great lengths of time where it's just so quiet. Imo I reckon we have one of the quietest fan bases in the comp
yep, and you would know from going to parra stadium how noisy those bogans are, they leave us for deadWe are definitely too quiet. The only time we make noise is on a Saturday night when everyone (well, a great many) are half pissed. Our little group are noisy but quite often get quizzical looks from the quiet ones around us. I don't see a point in going to the footy if you don't want to hear the cheering.May as well stay at home and watch it on the box.
