Shire1976, I agree completely with everything you have said.

But I wonder if someone can answer this question.

Usually in football clubs, the CEO is the one who hires and fires players, coaches and support staff. However, in this case, Flanno was re-appointed by the Board as a CEO was not in place. So, does Gorman need to consult with the board and gain their approval to sack Flanagan and if so, do we think the board would support such a move?

Or can Gorman front up and sack Flanno no questions asked?

Given we've been done for unfair dismissal on carney by doing what you said, i doubt it

The board would have to approve any move to move Flanno on. My concern is who is actually going to make such a recommendation to Gorman. Won't be the captain, won't be the football manager Darren Mooney. Does Gorman yet have the experience in the game to much such a significant recommendation to the board? I don't think so. The board appears to be a boys club who made the decision to sign Flanno to a new 3 year deal, so they are hardly going to make the call now to get rid of him. We are stuck. DCE was a way out to an extent but they probably put all their eggs in that basket and now what do they do.

It's been said before but it'd be interesting to know if the contract has clauses in it which enables the club to pay flanagan out a token (minimal hopefully) sum or its heavily in flanagans favour. Considering you'd think no other club would ever bother hiring flanagan you'd hope the club did insert these kind of clauses.

Yeah and it was genuine too Gards. There was no one taking pictures for promos or anything, he just wanted to mix it with the fans.

As he was going I told him how much it meant that he was putting in the hard yards for the club. And he said thanks with a direct look to the eye.

Yes it was a very nice touch, he mingled with a few of us, it was genuine and given there was so few sharks people there, most CEOs wouldve seen it as unnecessary i guess.

There'll be no sacking. He'll be given pretty much most of the season, at least.

I think thats fair. We are 3 games in. If he cant do anything to turn it around then yeah he should be facing the axe. But 3 games in you cant expect anything to go on. However if he'd been coach last year then yes i could imagine him facing it sooner.

Lyall would be scratching his head though thinking that floppo is a goose. Titans are our best chance for 2 points for a few weeks now so its time Lyall called flanno into the office and give him a smack.

For possibly the first time ever in professional sport we'll probably hear the kiss of death line "The coach has the Board's full support" and not see him sacked two weeks later.

I'm intrigued - where do they go with this? How long do they go along with poor performance without acting? That is the real and telling question - looking at our next run of games I honestly believe we'll be lucky to jag a 1 from 8. Come Origin time, it'll get worse.

When does the Board and the CEO say "Enough!"

If we are 1 from 8 Fitz, and they still want to keep him, we as fans will need to make our voice heard.

If we continue with the rubbish we're dishing up and are crazy-delusional that we're going to be injury-free and rep-duty-unaffected, how do you see this season going?

I see maybe 6 or 7 wins there fitz if some things go our way and I am factoring in a random fluky game against good opposition (happens every year) and the bye lol

I can see us winning three or four of the next 7.

This isn't a bad foory team. Its an okay one playing badly. Flano has coached worse to wins.

So who do you see as the "three or four" out of this?

My thoughts...

Sharks v Titans (H) Maybe (45% yes)
Roosters v Sharks (A) No
Sharks v Knights (H) No
Sharks v Rabbitohs (H) No
Panthers v Sharks (A) Maybe (20% yes)
Sharks v Warriors (H) Maybe (35% yes)
Titans v Sharks (A) Maybe (30% yes)

Probably the most telling thing for me is the crucial moment where everything went pear-shaped on Saturday night. Wade has a shocker of a clearing kick midway through the first half and the team falls into a complete funk. The body language was palpable... here we go again... we're about to get pwned. They're not being coached well in the head - it's funny that a weekend journo described their structure as not knowing who each others names are. In my mind, it seems that they're so far under-done that they'll struggle to trouble the scoreboard for quite some time to come and I blame the coach for that.

Its an interesting one isnt it? I personally think there is no chance of him getting sacked this year with two years to go on his contract.
We could get the spoon again this year and I dont think he'll be sacked.

Even if privately the board has no intention of sacking him, they need to somehow make him think they will if performances don't markedly improve.
