It is a no win situation for the NRL. Either make a mockery of the cap of potentially miss out on the ilk of Hayne and Folau.

The scenario you are suggesting isn't far fetched either, isn't the reason Folau is so keen on the Eels because one of his brothers is there?

exactly and THAT is where the NRL is gunna shoot itself. It will lose support. If anything, they should not have allowed Hayne to sign a release that gave a life time contract for that club.

If anything, the marquee allowance or whatever the NRL intends on calling it should be given to the bottom placed side. If there is 2 players in a year they wish to suck off, the bottom 2 teams. Not let em come back where ever they want.

Whats to stop someone like Inglis say now he is going to AFL, get a release or whatever then the NRL basically buy him back for Souths and all of a sudden they have the advantage of an extra star player in their cap.

exactly, moving mountains to let them back/fit them in/stay just inflates their egos more. Fair enough if you are Jarryd Hayne he hasnt 'deflected' like Burgess or SBW, they are getting huge pay days to move. Hayne is going there with nothing. Not that it entitles him to a trouble free return. Its just the whole thing about favourites. When Jonny Mannah got sick the NRL didnt even allow the Sharks to bring in a replacement under the cap, without letting Mannah go. Then you have a guy wishing to play another sport has been told on the way out, dont worry we'll fit ya in if you dont make it. Why be so spineless

The Eels request is different for two reasons,
1. The NRL was under different management at the time we asked, and
2. ITS NOT US ASKING THIS TIME!!!

2. Exactly right. It would be a cold day in hell before we got a million dollar player served up to us to thats for sure
