People outside this forum are beginning to notice too, article up on the roar about this very issue from an irate supporter, lol. Is Penani good?

The thing is, wouldn't it be nice to find out? It's like Lichaa. People saying he wasn't good enough to get a spot on the bench last year. I could understand that if we had decent hookers, but we have the worst hookers in the comp. Blood youngsters with promise ffs.

I'll preface my answer with a disclaimer. I have only seen him play about 6 games as I don't get to NSW Cup games often.

I think he is a better option then Robson or Holdsworth as he from what I have seen he has a better all round game. He is not as strong a defender but he attacks and he can direct the side. He is rough but playing with Carney he will get better and learn.

He is also quicker then Robbo or Holdsworth (he is quicker then Chad too before that bloke gets brought up again) and speed is important.

If he was to fail than he fails but if I was coach I would put him in.

I haven't seen a lot but what I've seen has been ok. Peopleon here rate him. He's at least worth throwing into first grade if we don't have any genuine halves available.

But it's kind of beside the point anyway in my opinion. It would be helpful for these guys to at least receive feedback as to what might put them in the picture. If they just got told "look your defence isn't strong enough at the moment" or "your kicking game is not good enough" or "you need to stack on a couple of kilos" then it might give them a direction to work towards at least and a light at the end of the tunnel. I'm sure they get some kind of feedback, but to hear it from the headcoach of the NRL team would be a massive motivator, I think.

problem is, he is a genuine half, and was fit to play. he should have played monday night. holdsworth is a 5/8 - backup for carney. penani or even brown would be the next best choices as backup, and neither one would be out of place being selected. shuffling a foward that used to play in the halves is just plain stupid and lacks vision and balls. give the youngs a go, if they fail, so be it, but how the hell do we know they will fail if they arent given the choice.

i would rather lose a game having the young guys getting a go, then reshuffling the experienced guys around.

And its rd 1. If they aren't going to gamble and give them a go now, they never will.

When the young kids have been given a go they have shown they can at the very least old their own.

So has Lichaa definitely signed with the Dogs? I will get pasted for this but if he hasn't we need to take a punt and match their offer, yes you heard me, 300k for a guy that hasn't played FG. If we believe he has what it takes then we need to take the risk. Two year contract for 300k per year. We have the funds now that Fifita is gonski.

That bs and you know it. They will be given a go when they've signed for another club.

He can be hot and cold.

There are the times when he's off, and he can easily lose a game for you.

There are the times when he's on, and there's no stopping the guy.

However, judging from last year, most of the time he's just... There. There were many games for me when he went completely unnoticed, and that's a little worrying for a half.

Should he have played 5/8 against the Titians? Yes because he's actually a half. As much as I love Wade Graham, he hinders us too much when he players there. However when Robson and Carney are fit, the guy shouldn't be suggested.

Random Q - was Wade pinched by us, or unwanted by Penrith? I know a lot of the fans like him but I also know he wasn't playing consistent FG - Walsh and Burns were the first choice halves.

I'm super dirty with the Bulldogs for pinching Liccha, but I suppose it might not be any different to what we did to Penrith. After all, our club's not playing him in FG either.

He was not unwanted as such but we gave him a shot at regular first grade and you are 100% correct the dogs are just doing the same thing.

As he should be! Well worth the 300k considering one of morris or de gois would have been on that under the old cap.

not unwanted but wasn't developed properly and they have regreted it. So will we.
