play dumb and get suspended?

i hope whoever we get as a coach stamps their own authority on the team, not flannos plan.

otherwise he may as well buy a GA membership and text from the sideline
i dare say he will still have a major role in the running of the team

What's everyones thoughts about the coaching role long term ? Do we welcome back flanno in 2015 or just start fresh with a new coach and try and leave this asada stuff in the past ?
i say start fresh but they would be worried about player backlash, the players seem to love him

kimmorley sounds good, tactically he is very smart and can bring some fresh attacking ideas.

Hopefully the new coach picks the best 17 players on talent not who hes mates with like flanagan did

My gut feeling is that Flanagan won't be back.

A year is a long time in the NRL and I think a lot is going to happen on and off the field in that time.

I reckon the "interim" coach only has to replicate our 2013 season and he'll keep the job.

Make the finals and win a semi or 2 and Flanno won't be back.

For mine, If kimmorley wants the job then the club would be insane not to have him here. He has already developed a media presence, has a clean image and given he is not that far out of playing career himself he is sure to attract a bit of attention- something that might help us in our quest for new sponsors. Aside from that, I reckon he has analytical view of the game that very few have ( maybe Gould or Stirlo) and Supported by Sharpe, I reckon he just could go alright...what have we got to lose?

Kimmorley for sure , we need a player as coach who will command respect from the players , has anyone considered approaching Matty Johns as a consultant , was heavily involved in the success of Melbourne Storms , and approach his brother to work with our halves, did a great job with Manly.

I agree. He will be forgotten soon enough. Flanno has cost us a small fortune with his ineptitude and he should show some integrity and leave. If I hear we are paying this guy while he is suspended my head will explode.

Don't forget the man has had a split testicle playing football. Pain I couldn't even begin to imagine. Respect!

We have 3 weeks to make a decision about a new coach 15th Jan is D Day for Flanno and the club have stated they will stand by him , all indications are the ban will stick 12 or 9 mths their goes the season for him , there has been suggestion he will still have input into operations , look where that has got Essendon . We are lucky we have seen what can happen to a club that epitomosed professionalism and now have lost all credibilty. The decisions made over the next few weeks by the club will determine our long term vialbilty.

Why are people obsessed with media presence for a coach?

It's not an obsession with a coach having a media presence - Far from it. It is however, and understanding and appreciation of what a personality like Kimmorley could do for a club in our current position. The Sharks have always struggled to attract any positive media attention, never more so then now. Quite obviously the ability to actually coach is the first priority , but with a view to the future image of our club - we could use all the help we can get!

With regard to Hasler and Bennett , while they are usually quite reserved when dealing with the media, the press hang on their every word! Effectively creating a bit of their own presence under a cloak of mystique!
