I'm not sure if I believe that was Shane Flanagans words or not, yes he said them but was it something he meant or what he was asked to say that or what was it politically correct for him to say it?

I'm sure I'm not the only person to think this.

Rothfields campaign and the ongoing debate in here alone are perfect examples of what is happening in the wider shire community. Irvine would no doubt win a lot of votes because of the CSSC but he has lost a lot of support elsewhere and shouldn't be standing in the upcoming elections IMO. There are better applicants to take the club forward.

He has done a great job and its a real shame that this happened to him, didn't deserve that but **** happens and now you've got to move forward. That's about the guts of it.

Wow when I last read this thread it had very much a Peter Cobb fan club feel... even though I wasn't a fan at all. Seems things have changed. Good.

PS Frenzy hasn't called Irvine Elmer for a long time, if you knew anything you would know they have buried the hatchet.

Well, obviously not everyone on here would know that and thats their personal business anyway. I think the point is that, irrespective of any personal dispute Frenzy for years basically bagged the **** out of the bloke and death ridded him and his supporters on a forum and what, now is back and wants to be his supporter. If he is comfortable with that good luck to him but Id hate to be in the trenches with him.

The ticket headed by three-time Olympian Damian Keogh is threatening to take Supreme Court action to have the upcoming Cronulla Sharks AGM postponed because of a ruling that allows the former Sydney Kings basketball legend to stand only as a director, not president.

Do we know what their argument is as to why it should be allowed?

Didnt Keogh join Cronulla Caringbah club as a football member to be able to qualify and the issue is when he did that?
Something like that I think.

Gow, i'd certainly give it more thought if he or any other candidate not currently a board member would answer my questions from the weekend..

Ok here's a(some) question(s) for Peter Cobb;

If you believe that the board (should say sharks) have mismanaged the sponsorship and finances, how can you work with Pat Woods and Gy Wallace going forward?

Or do you intend on sacking them after an investigation?

If you do, then how is this different to the others (that were "sacked") that is the platform of your election attempt?

If you don't, then do you consider that you would resign (if you we're elected) due to the fact that you misled the members in your comments to be elected?

it would be worthwhile to point out that I am a voting rights member (and will be voting) with no allegiances to anyone other than the Sharks Club - however I do think the current board members are the most experienced and preferred candidates to not only govern the football club but importantly to govern the leagues club that has responsibilities to legislation such as the registered clubs act that I reckon more than half of the candidates have probably never read (especially if they haven't even read the sharks constitution).

Something like that I think.

For all of their blustering about being top flight businessmen, the DLS JLRFC opportUNITY ticket have really struggled to put together a ticket that meets the Constitution of the Leagues Club.

I've heard that they even pulled out the heavy handed lawyers to try force the Cronulla-Caringbah President to ratify back-dated memberships for some of the ticket so they could be eligible for nomination to the Sharks Board.

Massive warning bells ringing for me If that's their idea of how to do business and connect with the community.

Fitz,

If the above is true in relation to back dated memberships, that's more than just warning bells.

Incoming missile sirens.

So you're saying samshark that the above conduct, wouldn't bother you?

I find Fitz to be very honest and impartial on most things and I respect what he says but give me something a bit more concrete than 'Ive heard' and then I might say it bothers me. There's stuff going on here on both sides of the fence. You think the CSSC are not doing all they can to get DI back.

I am more concerned about what each applicant has achieved in their careers and what they can bring to the table as a board member.

I am a member of the CSSC and I can assure you there is no clear consensus as to whether DI should be endorsed or promoted to CSSC members.

Scroll to the very last item in knobhead's column.

I think there may be a case for this.

I've said all along its wrong to be having elections amid all the ASADA & GT static.

I don't support Keogh, not his personal motive for proposing the delay, but the outcome could be a good thing.
Agreed, I think it would be ideal to see either the election postponed for a couple of months, or a second election called by the newly-elected board (acting as caretakers), with all potential candidates given time to nominate and organise, and with more information on the table about the drugs issue. I don't know how it can be done within the constitution, but I think it would be the best outcome.
