what a joke! To even ask is ridiculous, if the NRL bend, they can kiss the sport goodbye.

How is it fair to 'even' it up next year, which in Melbournes defence, the same applies, yeah the talent was there, but it stayed illegally, enabling them to sign Israel now, means they go over, so they have signed him illegally, meaning having him on the books be it this year or next, he came to the club illegally. Id be telling them clean out, or find some 3rd parties.

If they were to win the Premiership in 2013 while over the cap, how does forfeiting 400K of cap space the next year compensate the other teams?

Even with Israel they still wont win the comp, one player isnt going to change the team too much. Not like he is a C.Smith Or J.Thurston.

Im not saying he is the difference buddy, dont take it so literally. Im saying that if a team goes over the cap for 1 season, but goes below it doesnt even it out, because if that season they are above they win, its clear they had an advantage isnt it. Same as if we went and got Israel or someone now, pushes us 500K over the cap, then next season we lose say Toops and Morris, or something. If we win while over the cap, thats not fair

I don't think the NRL will budge, which is a good thing IMO.

Apparently the Eels wanted Willie Tonga to go overseas but that now looks unlikely.

Would Tonga be worth a punt here? (Not sure if we have any money left)

Tonga is not going anywhere, ..
Izzy has agreed to terms long ago, we are playing games with the media to put pressure on the NRL to budge on how much we can back end because we have another player other than izzy waiting to sign, we are trying our best to fit them both in.
There is no way the NRL will let us use some of 2014s cap next year, we know that, its a game of ducks n drakes atm.
Dont forget there are club elections for us in december, all is not what it seems, 3P and Spagnolo are desperate for a sweetner or two just in time for the Election.
They are running scared of rival ticket led by Sharp and Sim, should this rival ticket Parrafirst get up its a new bright dawn for the eels.
If the stooges 3P hold the power its very unfortunate for supporters or the Pirtek Parramatta Eels...

I agree with your sentiments mate, you are correct.
First of all with Sandow at half we wont be winning anything, and he is being shopped around since the moment Ricky came to the club, thats a fact, he will be let go of in 2014.
Same goes for Keating at hooker, his delivery is too slow, he will be let go of as well.
Izzy will get bums on seats ant thats about it, he will come back from AFL having learnt nothing he already didnt know, he has lost muscle tone in all the wrong areas, he hasnt learned to kick lol, he was already the best in the game under the high ball, AFL has been a total waste of his time, we will be getting a lesser product than when he left.
Steve Kearney and Steve Nolan have left our club in a mighty big hole, they have signed the wrong players to contracts this year and last, and we will suffer for that next year.

Terrible news for Dragons fans with Kyle Stanley to undergo a fourth ACL surgery after rupturing his right knee in training yesterday!

Off-contract Gold Coast Titans flyer David Mead has revealed he is in no rush to commit to the club as he weighs up what is set to be the most important deal of his career.

Mead’s deal expires at the end of next year and the 24-year-old’s services are sure to be sought after by rival NRL clubs.

The speedster is happy on the Gold Coast but is also on the hunt for a beefed-up contract as he enters the prime of his career.

The Bulletin understands the Titans are privately worried about losing Mead, who is on a paltry deal worth less than $150,000 a season.

Mead is among a host of big-name players off contract at Robina next year, including NSW star Greg Bird.

I read that too. Seems to be a similar case to Gordon- he'll play any position, but he wants to be paid better.

He would slot in to the wing or the centres really well for us. One of the quickest in the comp, strong and a good leaper and always puts in. It'd be great to poach one back off the Titans and he's in his prime.

Edit: The quotes read like he's on the way out too. Could be an early signing, like James Maloney was for the Roosters.
