I agree with all of this about Gards, I think he would wasted if not in our top 17.

I have mentioned this in the Nathan Gardner thread.

I really think there is only one forum member who is deadset against having Gards anywhere near the top 17, but he won't give any real reason behind his thoughts apart from saying his defence is suspect. This can be worked on and fixed.

I'd be happy to start Gards at fullback as long as Mick Gordon was in the centres. I think Gordon is wasted on the wing.

My 1-7 would be:

Gards
Ryan
Gordon
Pomeroy
Wright J
Carney
Robson

that clip of Gards on the last page was rad. hope he can find that kind of form. i reckon he has been under an injury cloud in recent times. he was absolutely smashing it back then. that kind of talent just doesn't disappear

that kind of form should get him the gig but its the brain explosions and lack of confidence that was hurting him more so. especially under the high ball.

this is the back line flanno will go with and I can't really disagree.
Plus after hearing flanno talk about Gards it's pretty certain he won't be in the team.

i think it's a bit early on for anyone to be making claims about what Flanno will or won't do. have they even started pre-season training yet?

Damian Irvine tweeted me today saying that their induction day is tomorrow, so we will all get to see our new recruits in sharks gear tomorrow!

Yeah I remember reading that somewhere not so long ago. Looking forward to seeing our new purchases!

Gards let his ego get out of control lets see if last season has taught his anything. like the misses says he is a little to cocky for his own good at the moment.

that's ok though. a bit of cockiness is ok. but even a cocky person couldn't remain cocky after his last year and a half. he needs to regroup his thoughts, focus on his game and use his confidence to back himself in tough situations.

when he first made the grade he was so successful because he backed himself and had the speed and skills to pull it off. somewhere along the line, things have gotten weird for him. it's not like he doesn't have the skills, the speed or the confidence anymore. but somehow, things just haven't worked out.

i'm blaming injury and i'm claiming we'll see a Gards comeback at some point. he's too dynamic when he's on to just give up on and shaft to reserves.

Well said, this gets forgotten to much by his knockers, I'm not kidding myself, he's got stuff to work on but he's also got stuff to his game you cant coach & most players dont have especially in the Sharks ranks, if we can get his weknesses in check we have a good one on our hands.
