some of the responses on here are laughable. calling for Flanno's head, calling for this ****'s head, that ****'s head, a shorter season.

I'm not sure why everyone is talking so much about one out running? The biggest things we did wrong in attack were:

- Going sideways before going forward.
- Not completing sets.
- Hardly any effective clearing kicks.
- Very very slow play the balls.

If anything, we should have been laying a better platform with our hit ups. I like forwards running in numbers and yes some tip on plays would have been better last night, but if anything the Sharks tried to spread it too much when they hadn't earned the right.

Neither of our starting props earned more than 50 metres in attack. That probably paints the best picture.

Agree.

TBH I didn't even notice a prop until about the 70th minute. They went missing big time for some reason. We were very, very unorganised last night. I think a few straight forward sets with a good clearing kick would have helped us regain some composure. Newcastle were allowed to lay all over our players, but we didn't do ourselves any favours.

I don't think it's wrist slitting time yet ... we are a sneaky chance at home against the Rabbits if we address a few things & lift our intensity (Souths have shown a few chinks in their game, even given GI will be back).

But if Flanno is "not too concerned" ... then that is a problem right there.

I think (or hope) that we won't be so lethargic at home. Sometimes you just don't turn up for some unknown reason. I hope last night was just an anomaly. :hoping

It's ok for Flanno to not be concerned. Why be concerned over something you know can be addressed? I'd be concerned if he didn't fair fetch it up the boys after the game but i'm thankful that he remained positive in front of the media. Or would you prefer he be death riding us publicly?

I don't why everyone is bagging Gal for getting to involved in attack.

If he was playing first receiver from the first set, then fair enough.

I thought he only really became involved excessively half way through the 2nd half when it was pretty obvious that Carney and Robson werent gonna do anything.

I made the comment when it was 18 - 0 that the only way we gonna score was through Gallen or J Smith.

Typical Cronulla end of season fade.
I can't see us beating any of the final 3 teams we have to play.
It's so disappointing year in, year out :(

Newcastle were allowed to lay all over our players, but we didn't do ourselves any favours.

Newcastle laid all over us, and when we tackled them they held us down every single time and milked a few penalties.

Smart coaching. The refs are so bad, I could see every single tackle of the first set a Knights guy holding the defender down. The refs only need to see that once to understand it's a deliberate tactic. I don't get how they don't just refuse to blow penalties when a team is doing that.

It's not a matter of death riding us publicly ... you can be honest and admit you have some things to work on without "death-riding".

Flanno isn't the sharpest tool in the shed, and what you see is what you get ... so I don't think his internal messages back to the team would have been dramatically different from execute better & get to our kick.

"Steady as she goes" isn't going to get us to the finals ... and it certainly isn't going to cut it in the finals. We need some self-awareness from Flanno & some proper remedial actions. Like I say, it's not quite wrist slitting time yet, but the relaxed "not too concerned" attitude of Flanno in the press conference was not the right attitude IMHO.

- Poor game plan which even that wasn't executed. Why did we abandon repeat sets into in goal for wild passes and useless bombs?
- Some horrible reads in defense
- Woeful kicking game from both halves
- Gallen back to his bad over controlling ways
- Missed Toops
- Miss Poms, we are not the same side for some reason without him
- Morris out shining Degois in attack but not D

If ever a game highlighted the difference a quality and quick back line makes to a team this was it. Our backs our honest toilers but no real pace or elusiveness.

Really disappointing last night, hurt to lose to the freaken Knights. Would love to have ended their season.

Snowden stepped up against us again and outshone our resident pillow Fafita

Not D? LMAO

De Gois had 2 ineffective tackles and 7 missed tackles.
Morris had 0 ineffective tackles and 0 missed tackles.

Morris came on from the bench knowing that our starting side was **** and he needed to aim up, and he certainly gave it a good crack. Gibbs and Fifita gave it a decent crack too considering.

I'm talking in general MB not just last nights game. Plus degois plays alot more minutes, hes made some cracking tackles this year when we have needed it. Stats are an input but not the be all and end all. When Morris was on the Sharks had momentum and were on the attack so the whole team had less defense to do. Can you pull the stats for all players, I would think there were missed tackles from quite a few players...

Without looking at the stats I think you'd find Morris has played more minutes, especially recently
