Madeline Tynan as Chairman, whilst a woman as boss would be a nice look, sadly Miss Tynan’s business attributes aren’t the greatest. Insiders from Tynan Motors advise she is a truly hopeless administrator and business person. My suggestion would be to bypass Madeleine for big daddy Michael Tynan then we’d see some worthwhile changes.

Just on the rumours, I too have heard (forum talk) that our Club should expect a big cash influx shortly from unnamed source, plus... the DA is close to being approved. Things are looking up, fingers crossed hey???

I like the cut of your jib.:)

Geez mate. She must be the richest, most successful hopeless business administrator in the history of motor vehicle sales. She is minted mate. i used to work for Tynans' so i don't know where you got your "insider" information form but it is critically flawed.

Not at all. I don't work fro them anymore. I'd like to see the reasoning behind your post because you are bagging our most powerful sponsor, one who has stood trough all the bad **** and defended the club to the hilt with some BS story that she is a bad business administrator. Mate if any of your story had any truth then Tynan Motors would not exist! Plain and simple.

What's your argument?

Ooh I have touched a raw nerve haven’t I. Sorry to offend?

I have no argument, my case is simple, and I’ve already stated it. Like you I know people who have worked at Tynan’s and (in their opinion) Ms Tynan is not the brains behind the business success. I think you have advised the forum the info may be incorrect from your perspective, if you believe your better placed to make informed judgement than my sources so be it? and I’ll cop your attitude and accept your opinion!

'We do not run clubs': Gallop rules out Sharks intervention

June 9, 2009

NRL chief executive David Gallop has ruled out any possibility of the league seconding a representative to oversee the running of the embattled Sharks amid revelations that promised fresh board elections at the club may now not go ahead.

With chief executive Tony Zappia yesterday standing down from his job pending an investigation into comments he made to former female staffer Jenny Hall, who was paid $20,000 and ceased her job as the club's community liaison officer after being accidentally punched in the face by the Cronulla CEO, questions are again being asked about the Sharks on-going viability.

With chairman Barry Pierce last week resigning after coming under pressure following the airing of group sex allegations involving Cronulla players on a 2002 pre-season trip to Christchurch by ABC's Four Corners program, the Sharks are effectively lacking anyone in the two most important off-field leadership roles.

In addition, the club is struggling financially and has lost major sponsor LG for next season, while the Herald has been told that the Sharks are also having trouble attracting players because of the off-field problems.

But Gallop said the NRL had no intention of getting involved as the ARL did in 1997 when it sent Paul Broughton to the Gold Coast to look into the operation of the new franchise run by property developer Jeff Muller. As a result the ARL ended up taking control of the Gold Coast club but Gallop indicated that the Sharks will now be left to sink or swim on their own after giving the NRL assurances about Cronulla's short-and long-term future at a meeting late last month.

"We do not run football clubs," Gallop said. "Football clubs are run by boards of directors voted in by members."

At the May 26 meeting attended by Gallop, the NRL's chief operating officer, Graham Annesley, and financial controller, Ed Farish, the Sharks board announced that a new vote would be called for the positions of the directors after elections then already under way in a bid to appease disgruntled fans and sponsors. But Gallop was stunned when told yesterday that the new election may not go ahead as some at the Sharks feel that there has been sufficient changes to the board with Pierce and Don Anderson resigning last week and three other directors, Brett Crowley, Frank Doran and Paul Dubridy losing their place at the recent election. "That's news to me," Gallop said.

It is understood that an emergency meeting of Sharks members will be called next Tuesday at which they will have the opportunity to call fresh elections, but the board will not do so.

Meanwhile, former Canberra and St George Illawarra centre David Howell has left the door open for a return to Australia despite recently signing a deal with English Super League side Harlequins.

The 25-year-old joined Quins from the Raiders last year and has quickly established himself as a fans' favourite at the Twickenham Stoop. And although he put pen to paper on a new two-year contract last month, Howell admits the lure of international football remains strong.

He said: "There's always the thought of going back to the NRL and pushing for an international spot but they're really trying to push young players through over there so it would be tough.

"In the near future it doesn't look likely at all. But who knows? They may be in need of a centre some time down the line and the door is still definitely open in my eyes - never say never.

"There's not as much pressure playing in the UK as there is in the NRL so you get a lot more time to go out and develop your game. I'm enjoying going out and expressing myself, trying to become a better player without the fear of not being selected each week."

Elsewhere, former Brisbane Broncos great Terry Matterson revealed he is close to extending his deal as Castleford coach.

Matterson has been in charge at the Jungle for four years and is hoping to sign a new contract in the next few weeks.

I suppose we are going to have to get our Board sorted before they can appoint a new CEO....

Not a good time to have no-one at the steering wheel.

Tynan would be good for the job, plus having a woman as the president would clear our image up.

Barry Pierce will be Head of the Board and caretaker CEO until his resignation takes effect. Who gets the gig as his replacement will be dependant on whether they go ahead with the Extraordinary General Meeting... which some people suspect is getting railroaded...

This thread has more info as to where the whole thing is at:
http://www.sharksforever.com/forums/showthread.php?t=39036

I see it highly unlikely that they'll appoint a new permanent CEO until the Board Membership is finalised... it's the Board's job to appoint the CEO and they're unlikely to find someone to take the job knowing that they might get booted within a couple of months time.
