But if Tricky has a strength that is being underutilised now why can't he bring it to the forefront despite being the 5/8?For Moylans faults something he was good at was holding up defenders in the line and digging into the line opening up time and space for others. He would do this at various paces from slow to fast depending on the situation and had some sleight of hand about it. Ofcourse he didn't always get it right which is the case for any player.
Tricky seems to be a more direct player that plays flatter and does everything at 100 miles an hour with less subtlety or poise.
Nothing wrong with that but it doesn't seem to suit our attack as much alongside Hynes who is kinda erratic at times and while Nicho will dig into the line he generally just stops running and takes a tackle or throws an impossible short pass (or a brilliant long cut out ball tbf)
Tricky seems like less of a genuine play maker option than Moylan but Mozza had the benefit of fullback & 5/8 experience where's Tricky has spent of lot of his time @ 7.
We can say that changing Nicho and Trickys jersey numbers won't change anything but that's only the case if the coach swaps the jersey and doesn't take any further action about their roles, structure, tactics ect. If Fitz is the one in charge then those things are absolutely within his control.
I doubt our coach has a vow of silence on 50% of our halves. When directing the team around the field to execute game plan if both players understand that game plan absolutely two people can speak*
If Trindall see's something he wants to target (and is half competent to be correct) how and why is there so little faith in him everyone must supposedly be ignoring this. But would not ignore this if he changed to be the other half.
Yeah Fitz could change the structures to force Trindall into first receiver more. I don't see that as beneficial.
If Fitz has to command Nicho to shut up and Trindall to speak... well if it has to be commanded it's clearly not the right move.
If Trindall is great at directing players around just do it from the 6 shirt dude, you're one of the halves. May not be the 7 or the 'senior' half but you're still 50% of the halves partnership. It's not like we've thrown a 6 on Paul Gallen due to injury, he is there specifically to play in the halves.
The point being, yes Fitz has control to push changes but Trindall is already well positioned to do the things people are saying he should be doing.**
*we used to see Moylan directing people around at times, probably more so if we really concentrated on watching for it
** the exception being probably long kicking which I think we all agree (from the info we have) he could be taking a bit more of
