This is probably the key piece of info.
His comments actually call attention to that imbalance, so could be taken as a positive by some.
Now if he'd said "private school white males make better decision makers" that would be controversial... and also self-sabotaging... since he is a Greek public school boy who was making a speech to justify one of his own decisions.

An exciting season ahead! We'll probably need 13 wins from 24 games to make the Top 8 (14 at most). Provided Nicho is OK, we're starting in a good injury state. I've gone threw the draw carefully and I think we've got 12 games we can win; 6 50-50 games; and 6 games where we will be heavy outsiders:
A- Winnable Games (12) (H – 9; A - 3)
Home: R2 (Dogs); R4 (Raiders); R7 (Cowboys); R9 (Saints); R15 (Dolphins); R18 (Titans – in Coffs Harbour); R19 (Tigers – 5 days before Origin 3); R24 (Knights); R26 (Warriors)
Away: R3 (Tigers); R17 (Bulldogs – us coming off bye; 4 days after Origin 2); R25 (Dragons)
B - 50/50 Games (6) (H – 1; A – 5)
Home: R24 (Knights)
Away: R8 (Raiders); R13 (Eels – 5 days before Origin 1); R14 (Broncos – 3 days after Origin 1); R21 (Cowboys – us coming off bye); R23 (Titans); R27 (Sea Eagles)

I'm just sick of hearing Vegas all the time when you are watching the games that don't even involve the Vegas teams. They are trying to throw it in everywhere they can and also are playing ad nauseum the Matt Nable monologue that is just goddamn awful.
I get they have to promote it heavily, I get that they need to saturate the airwaves but I am getting sick of it.
Having whinged about all of that, I'll certainly be watching the games!

Gus said on his Podcast that (due to Covid) across the board teams younger players that they thought would be ready by now but aren't. He says this has created a market for teams retaining depth players more than usual, both because there are a lack of quality players on the market and there is uncertainty over the trajectory of their own guys.
Biggest impacted imo would be guys born in 1999-2002, but it would vary based on where they were at during Covid (location and contract).
