I can see the logic. Unlike the forwards that get thrown around, Ronnie is at least from Auckland, and a proud Kiwi. If Stonestreet could fill the void, it would make sense too and save cash, but I don't know enough about his development to make that call.

I wouldn’t be against it. Ronnie was bog average for a large chunk of this season. Katao for me is the better/more consistent player. Wouldn’t release him. Ronnie for AFB, with Iro/Stonestreet as replacements wouldn’t be to bad. Got Hiroti there also for further depth.

What was Charlie Stains if Ron (golden boot nominee & just off breaking the clubs tries in a season record) was "bog average"? You probably wanted to buy him at some stage.

Just because a bloke scores a bunch of tries doesn’t make him a star player. Jesus Christ, sounds like you only watch a highlights real instead of the full game.

Go watch his one on one defence, second efforts, ball handling, kick returns, positioning in defence/kick returns etc..

You’re reaching mate so just shoosh.

No we just actually like the team we follow instead of complaining about every single thing. Never a positive post out of you, you negitive Nancy.

Buuuuut let's just talk about what we are talking about here.
Out of the two who played for their country this year? Ronnie. Guess rep selectors think Ronnie played better. Tonga also have less players to pick from but whatever.
Who scored most tries? Koata 13 in 25 game Ronnie 21 in 23 games.

I'm just going to end it here (even though statswise Ronnie smashes katoa) as there is no point trying to change your negitive mind.

Don’t rate Staines at this stage of his career so na I didn’t want him champ.

The golden boot is purely based on internationals, so speaks nothing to his nrl form. Ronnie had a great comp for Nz, but was below his best for us this year IMO. He's been pretty spoken in the media about aspects of that too, including his focus and chirping with other players.

I don't think he was bad, but he definitely can and should be better. I also don't think there's a huge gap between him and Katoa. It's probably Ronnie's aerial ability that clinches it.

Yep..

They both have their own strengths and are pretty close for me, love that Katoa will always be up for the dirty work and Ronnie can make those killer runs out of nowhere

Don’t reckon it’s controversial to say Ronnie didn’t have the best year.
