I’d swap Fitz for Flanno in a heartbeat. Dragons are lucky to have him. And it kills me knowing he’s going to turn that **** fight club around and get them being top 8 for years to come.

I had the same thoughts, I would still consider it. But from what I heard about his attitude regarding the whole ASADA saga makes me think twice.

Love flanno, wish him every success that doesn’t deliver a premiership to the dragons or a win over the sharks.

Much as I love him though, Fitz is our man. Still got the hope and vibe he’ll be a 10 year coach for us

Not only has he been gone 5 years, we all know the reason why he’s not still here. It’s not like we moved him on by choice.

The obvious answer is yes, you would definitely swap them.

But it’s not a level playing field. You’re talking about a rookie coach with two year’s experience up against a Premiership winner with 8 years of coaching experience up until 2018.

To me, the swap question would be much harder to answer if you only went on Flanno’s first two years. He had crap players, probably worse than what we have now but he then used the next 5 years to gather his team together and put together a premiership winning side.

Fitz hasn’t had that opportunity as yet. Answer this honestly, did anyone think Flanno was a good coach in his first two years? Plenty on here didn’t think so. (Hi Teflon!)

I will admit I thought Fitz would have more success at this stage and I am disappointed in how we’ve fared over the last two seasons. But I’m still happy to give him time, can’t say for certain that he won’t win a premiership just yet.
I do not think I care about more success at this stage - as in I would have been happy with the result from last year and this year.

However, I was expecting to see an obvious improvement. grit, hunger, whatever you call it - something this year. Unfortunately it did not happen. The same brain farts, same stupid handling mistakes all continued if not became more. We still do not seem to have a plan B.

Maybe it is growing pains but it feels like this year was a waste of time and we did not move an inch forward.

I reckon there was a fair bit of wasted time, but there were some learnings that came out of that. Injuries didn't help either.

When our players can old the ****ing ball and keep their heads up under pressure we'll be world beaters...

He's not going to do that. I love Flanno but that 2016 team was lightning in a bottle, and yes he put them together and coached us to a gf win, but the idea that that makes him a great coach doesn't fly with me. I liken him to Phar Laps trainer. Never trained another good horse.

Guess time will tell after his stint at the dragons begins. If he coaches them a premiership then imo he will be in the elite coaches conversation.
