Yep. Could have given the award to any of the top nominees and it would have been deserved.

I do.

The coach and other players notice things that you don't.
I notice an average run metre of less than 50 metres. I notice he drops to his worst games when we need his best.

I did think BB was actually better for parts of this year than last. He had a good couple games where he ran the ball.

Does anyone seriously think he was our stand out player this year?

There's one bloke in the media team who isn't as big a fan of Braley's it seems... hope he wasn't in charge of the engraving.

"It also comes as no shock that the Aquinas Colts Junior has taken out the Sharks most prestigious individual award as the Porter-Gallen Medal winner for season 2023.

Braley was singled out for the major award ahead of the five final nominees who included Will Kennedy, Sione Katoa, Cameron McInnes and Briton Nikora."

I would have had Nikora or Williams personally but that's just me.

The coaches have clearly simplified Blayke's role and are happy with how he's executed it.

Think this is where alot of people are looking at him on game days and coming to the conclusion he's regressed but their irritation should be with game plan.

If by stand-out you mean highlight reel generating, then no, he wasn't. Which I think is how many look at it.

Not sure what you mean here.

Maybe the issue is that you are overvaluing a fantasy stat like "running metres" and don't understand the nuances of what an NRL #9's job is, and how he has a positive influence on the team.

Not highlight reel, otherwise BHU or Hunt would be on the equation. Who was our best player? I didn’t have BB in our top 5 and don’t give a merry **** if Fitz, ET, Gal, Churchill or the pope disagree.

Was Fitz also right in holding back Trindall, or Jessie or Tom?

I actually thought Blayke made some improvements this year, but doesn’t kick enough, doesn’t run enough and goes more into his attacking shell against better teams. He just isn’t in my top 5

So what you're saying is: you are right, and no evidence of any kind will make you change your mind. I know you are only 36 posts in but you appear to be getting the gist of this forum. Nice work :)

So, hypothetically if Gal, Fitz, ET and Churchill all thought he was our best and you didn’t, you’d prefer to assume you’re right and all these “so-called experts” are wrong? Rather than thinking that maybe you missed something.
Ok pal.

That's fine. You can have any opinion you like. It doesn't make you automatically right though. It's just your opinion.

FWIW a player doesn't need to "stand out" to win an award as the bets player on the team. Say the coach does a 5-4-3-2-1 each week someone could lead the tally for the year by never getting 5 points but be being judged the 3rd-5th best player in almost every every game.
