Pilot Medical Update – Teig Wilton
Sharks backrower
Teig Wilton is set to miss the remainder of the 2023 season after suffering a knee injury in the game against the Warriors on Sunday.
Wilton was replaced in the first half of the game played at Go Media Stadium in Auckland, with subsequent scans revealing a meniscus tear.
Wilton underwent knee surgery yesterday (Wednesday), with the recovery period of 12-16 weeks, effectively ruling him out for the Sharks remaining games in 2023.
The injury comes as a blow to the young forward who recently re-signed with the Cronulla club for a further two seasons.
In other Sharks injury news,
Braden Hamlin-Uele was unavailable for the game this weekend as he continues his recovery from a low-grade lower leg problem, while
Wade Graham has been rested in an effort to overcome some niggling injury issues.
It is hoped both players will be available for selection for the Sharks round 22 match against the Panthers.
In relation to
Royce Hunt, the Sharks prop was this week named on an extended bench by coach Craig Fitzgibbon, with his status to be made known closer to the game on Sunday. Hunt has been sidelined since rupturing his syndesmosis in a round 15 match against the Melbourne Storm.
