Hynes plays both roles already, we have a genuine halfback who is ready to go who can help him manage games and also steer the team if Nicho isnt firing or gets shut down by opposition.
We will not win a premiership with the current halves combo, come finals Nicho will be the main target to pressure and shut down. I do like Moylan as a player, but he is not going to step up and grab the steering wheel if Nicho lets go, he might try, and then steer us all over the road though because he's not use to it haha.
Every main guy you guys are talking about still needs a halves partner that can do their part of game management also, help take the workload and pressure off
Not specific to just you, but the convo in general....
Is there any evidence Trindall is a better game manager than Moylan? A quote from someone well placed, or some kind of empirical data?
Or he just kicks more and doesn't have a smarmy face?
I'm all for Trindall getting a go but I can't honestly say I know for a fact he is a better 'game manager' than Moylan is.
Any quotes that say for first 3 rounds Trindall was running the team not Moylan?
He kicks more and is a better kicker, I definitely agree with that. But controls a team more? I've seen no evidence. Not saying he definitely doesn't, but playing 7 in Cup only proves so much when Metcalf (not a noted 7) can play halfback there most of the season with Miller at 6 and be solid.
Does Luai do 'his part of the game management'? Like Trindall/Moylan this seems like something most couldn't truly know. From a hands on the ball perspective, he mostly just plays one side of the field, it's hard for me to see how he would do much more than Moylan in your average game.
Fitz & Mooney had every opportunity to not re-sign Moylan if he isn't worth it.
There's people in here that have been crowing for Trindall for years, should have been promised the 7 jersey years ago apparently (we likely don't sign Hynes...). They've declared him a sure thing to be lost to us previously too and no team snatched him away.
He'll presumably eventually get a crack and if he goes well they'll act like they've been right for years and if he doesn't they'll blame someone else or go quiet. The people who think he should get a crack when our supposed decent coach thinks it is best for the team are also going to be right when he locks down a spot too.
I'm all for people saying they want to see Trindall get a crack, but that he should be given 7 over Hynes because of his advanced game management skills... I don't know they exist.
