Well, there’s not many bigger votes of confidence then a contract extension about, what, 24 months out from the end of your deal? It has its risks sure, but at this point in time, I cannot think of anyone else I’d rather have steering the ship.

Yep, contract extension that far out after only 12 months on NRL coaching. We've got a goodun.

Great to have him locked in. But **** that is a lot of faith shown by the club. Hopefully a premiership is a must now for us within 2-3 years.

Oh god, not the 'dark place' story... They've done the Nicho 'from rags to riches' and Talakai 'garbo to greatness', now just just **** off and leave us be, Fox media, before we start to buy into this ****!

Edit: not a bad article for once, actually...

“I think he’s got some really great systems in place, he gives the assistants free reign with us in attack.

So Hannay is basically running our attack then
The likes of Holdsworth (halves coach) would be heavily involved too I'd assume

Our assistants did a fantastic job with our attack in the opening 1/3 of the season. It was as good as I have seen us with ball in hand, everytime we spread it wide it was exciting like scoring or doing something special was just inevitable.

Not so good at adapting when opposition teams came up with plans to counter our attack which were at times quite successful.

We just never seemed to recover that same time, space, rhythm and glorious natural fluidity we saw at the start of the season even if we still were quite capable of pilling on the points it usually just looked more clunky though some good trick shots did come to the fore and we still won the majority of our games.

Ultimately Fitz is responsible to manage his managers and perhaps he needed to interject more and earlier on the attacking side - maybe he did. Regardless it's a learning process for all of the coaching staff.

We also just started to look kinda tired around mid year (strange considering most players got more rest) which coincided with our defense falling away though injuries did not help and when players like Dale came back they just weren't the same.

Good news is we look very fit this pre-season so I am hopeful of the high standards across attack, defense and discipline carry through a larger portion of the season and especially into the finals

Interesting that Fox article predicts us finishing 6th but making the Prelim - something we didn't do finishing 2nd last season

I still think we can be Top 4 and defs should be pushing for a Prelim or better but coach has alot of time on his side with that huge contract extension so doesn't need to cut corners looking for a quick fix or short term results.

Still I think we are already good enough as it stands to be a genuine challenger and one of the better teams in the comp once again. Just cause your building towards something and looking to improve doesn't mean you arnt actively going for it each and every season and I get the impression from the players that the goal every season even under a new FG coach in Fitz is make GF and win it.(y)😎

Our attack was already impressing me during our trial over Dogs, if Fitzzy can work hard on our defence & how hard the guys work in general, I'm going to back us to get in the top 4 again. We must have got someone to help Hynesy with his kicking, he got 100% & quite a few were from outwide too. Conversions can help more then people think.

One thing we do have to work on though is our error rate & how often we gave away "6 agains" for our opposition though. Doe anyone know who our assistant coaches are or if we've still got Josh Hannay & Steve Price as our assistants?
