You think they have the means to lure these up and coming superstars every time playing by the rules ?

Until proven otherwise. Yes.

I’m getting sick and tired of the yearly spiel of “Chooks are cheating etc etc” with no actual tangible proof. The Roosters are very smart and one of the better run clubs in the league, they’re youth recruitment is very good which is important considering their small junior base, no point being jealous, just focus on us as our club is on the improve in these sort of things, we’ll be up there with them hopefully soon most aspects of off field operations so don’t worry.

Yes, whilst unproven they SHOULD be given the benefit of the doubt .
But, I don't buy it .
Well run club stuff too .
With Mark Bouris ( Yellow Brick Road ) and Nicholas Politis ( Multi Millionaire also ) there are SOOO many ways to recruit a player , yet stay under the listed salary cap .
Jealous , YES , i'd find ways to bring in the Best for the Sharks too , IF I had the means .
Doesn't make it right .

Read the article, he's on a development contract.
Yes , but that doesn't mean he doesn't get offered the world in return .
Roosters : You come to us and give it a red hot shot and we guarantee to set you up for life .
Him How ?
Roosters : Don't you worry , we have ways
Him : Sounds great , I'd be mad to knock that back , so stuff the all blacks

True but you can also say where there is smoke there is fire. I think most people approach the sombrero talk a bit tongue in cheek recognising they are good operators with a lot of influence but if news actually comes out you won't see a lot of shocked reactions.

Look at the info that came out recently about Mundine taking under the table payments from Brisbane when they were a powerhouse. Not a lot of shock around that one I don't think.

Personally I don't think they are cheating as in they probably aren't operating outside of what is allowed but they are probably stretching what is allowed to near breaking point.

Hang on, so your issue is that they’re chairman is a successful businessman? Do you know who our chairman Steve Mace is? Someone feel free to correct me if I’m wrong here but I believe he is founder of Multi Services Solutions Group Aus/NZ. A successful construction consultancy company, and he’s a director for Triple H Tech and Daily Press Group. Fair to say Steve is probably pretty well off cash wise himself.

Is it Nick’s and Mark’s influence on the game? The NRL so desperately wanted our CEO Dino Mezzatesta on the NSW Rugby League board that the Commission went to Court to fight to NSWRL to get him on that board. When they lost, Nick Politis himself along with George Peponis both resigned in protest to Dino’s exclusion and the ARLC withdrew funding to the NSWRL. Fair to say Dino has quite a bit of pull with the higher ups for them to go to that much trouble.

Uncle Nick might be powerful but he’s not the only powerful figure in the game so that argument doesn’t really wash with me.

Not tangible proof that they are cheating the system.

For me that smoke has all been born out of innuendo and rivals jealousy. Nothing tangible. Would I be shocked if news came out that they were cheating? Probably not, but that would be the same for any club imo. I’m at the point where nothing would surprise me about this crazy arse game. If they’re stretching the rules to breaking point, so what? I’d like to hope we’re doing that as long as we follow the rules.

Sure but same was probably true of an unbeatable storm side and a high flying Man City side.
It’s not tangible until it is.

But as I said, I think they more likely just operate very well and squeeze every opportunity for all its worth - not sure what you want me to do with the ‘so what’ to that comment. I didn’t say it was a bad thing.

It would be pretty safe to say that every team, in their own unique way would be cheating the cap in some way. Some more than others, but everyone would be operating in some grey area of the rules.

Every now and then clubs decide to self report and they're taken to the cleaners.

Purgative effect.

Agree Matt , and to support your thoughts we are also fortunate to have some pretty well connected & professional directors in addition to Steve & Dino .

Metcalf looking alright.
Always has imo shame he left but can’t blame the bloke, Couldn’t take the risk of turning down the money and hoping his body held together to prove he is worth it.

Still frustrates me… was carving up in 2021, dumped for an injured Moylan, miss the finals, and he’s the one that got away.

Could have given Fitz some time and fought for a spot. Hasn’t done anything for us to regret yet.

Would have been happy to keep him but he wanted to sprint after the warriors contract offer so oh well

I know it was only a trial and it was against a depleted tigers side but Metcalf looked bloody good yesterday.

Really thought he was one we should have fought harder to keep. Looks a real natural talent.

I disagree. Had some nice touches, sure - but some poor moments too. In the one game where he got a good amount of time in the halves he was fairly underwhelming - but you can't judge him either way on that. He was and still is a work in progress. I hope he has a successful career.

He certainly didn't do his chances any harm last night, and you'd think that even if he isn't in the squad for round 1 he is going to play plenty of NRL footy this season being first man in when SJ gets injured.

Best position is fullback. Needs to play in the 1 for the warriors. CNK can play centres for them.

I spewed in my mouth a little the first time I saw Flanno in his Manly shirt.
