That's a good way of determining in theory
But they'd hate to potentially lose a Queensland team from a crowd perspective

Also causes a hassle if a team who was giving up a home game drops out, as they'd need to change that.
At the moment I believe the teams who gave up a home game (for cash) the first year are given opportunity to retain that option, or drop out if they wish. And most have been happy to keep collecting the money.

Give it to someone else , GOOD incentive NOT to be the team that Lost Magic Round from QLD the year after

Little summation from reddit on latest cap dealings. I haven't been able to read the full article so these are not my notes.

• The NRL has proposed a 2023 salary-cap figure of $12.5 million from $10.2m - an increase of 22.5 percent (avg. Wage growth for lay people was 2.7 percent);

• NRL players have been offered an extra $222 million over the next five years;

• NRL Women are set to celebrate record salaries as part of a $115m funding injection over the next five years;

• The NRLW salary cap is slated to rise from $350,000 to $800,000 next season - a whopping 146 per cent pay rise for females; and

• V’landys wants the minimum wage for NRL development players to be lifted from $80,000 this season to $125,000 next season - a 56 per cent increase for rookies.

Despite this being the largest pay rise on Rugby League history the RLPA has rejected it wanting more but haven't really said what they want apart from demanding to see NRLs books.

Bold part is a bit confusing. It’s players 27-30 who make $80k. Not dev players.

Pay rise for fringe players is great for Rugby League imo. Not everyone is a superstar. The more blokes who can make good money the better.

Yeah absolutely. There was a take during the week about it from Harry Grant where he said for a lot of guys on those lower tier contracts they are better off on the tools. The more guys who can afford to train and commit full-time will only help improve the quality of players.

Yeah. Saw that from Grant. Hopefully he is legitimately sticking up for those guys rather than just trying to jack the number up. Usually when they raise the cap by $1m the top 5 blokes each get another $200k and the guys on minimum get sweet f-a.

I think if they are raising the cap by $2.5m it would good to see at least $1m of that go in to the bottom half of the roster.

Yeah I had those same thoughts. There definitely has been a strong angle for the lower paid guys during these negotiations.

Well it's that lot holding it up now then.
Accept it for 2022 and get out of the way, you can fight for even more for 2023.

Spewing if you were on the other minimum wage of 120 and now those guys are getting more than you....
