Depth is a word I struggle with. It almost sounds condescending to a player, that there’s no hope in that player getting better.
I have often wondered how players feel about being “depth” in a squad.
Rookies probably are just happy to be part of the squad, but what about those who’ve got a few more years experience?
I wouldn’t think it’s a word used much within the squad, it’s mostly us punters and the media that use it.
