What's Jack Williams' (Jets 5/8) contract status for next year?

Good player, and a cheap replacement for Flanno if he goes to the Roosters next year.

Not sure but I agree we should bring him in next year.

He's often been the better player than Flanno for the Jets, he's not the biggest bloke but nor is Keary. I'm not comparing them in ability before someone chucks a spaz, just in size.

He'd be cheap too.

Agreed. He plays above his weight and has had a fair crack in every game I've seen him play.

Get Isaako over. Plays wing , can kick.. can’t be much worse than Feki has been this season (granted his last 2 games have been ok)

Think his dad is fighting brain cancer which may affect where he would consider going and how he would play but if he was keen to come he'd be a handy pickup.
I would want to see a bit more size in the back three though so someone with some height and weight to fight Isaako & Katoa for the spot would be good.

He’s on a 1 year contract with the Jets.

His situation last year at 20 is actually similar to Keary’s when he was 19. Running around as one of the better halves in the state cup but can’t get a look in for an NRL deal because he has been tagged as “top small, won’t make it”.

In the off-season run BHU, Woods, and Nikora at him 10 times each - if he makes 25 tackles he can have a development contract.
(I added Woods and Nikora in to get a few different running styles/body shapes in there)

If he can handle Woodsy's fat, smelly arse in his face then he's ready for the NRL.

I don’t think it is 1 on 1 tackling ability that is the issue as much as that he gets injured a lot so may not have the physical ability (yet) to deal with week to week NRL footy. A development contract would be a great thing for him. He could stay with the Jets and work on getting stronger.

I have said a few times on here that I think Williams could have a Blake Green type career where he doesn’t break in to first grade until quite late and probably can’t make a team a winner on their own but is able to play a very good complementary role to an established half. When Blake Green played NSW Cup for Cronulla at 22/23 he was a standout, but he didn’t become a regular NRL half until he was 27.

Williams is a better 1 on 1 defender than Flanagan.

Okay well that's a bit different then, not much you can do to shake injury prone, just ask Duges. Packing a bit more muscles on would help a bit though generally.
