Nah I think we should be staying far away from players with baggage like that for a while considering our brand has been absolutely hammered the past year.

I’d throw him a lifeline, one yr deal on min wage, at his best he was better than a average fgd’er.

he could be Centre cover & could do a job on the wing plus buy us some time either for the younger players coming through or until a quality winger is available.

With the 350k fine in our cap for 2020 we need to jag a bargain buy, this could be it.

I don't know that he'd do anything like that again, but ****, we really need to start looking out for the brand at some point.

We need to start trying to make ourselves at least a little bit likeable.

i dont know if i would take simona just because he has been out of the game for a while

Not coming up with a humiliating **** up every year would be a good start.

Risk avoidance and management. Not employing people who are sloppy/careless/reckless/criminal is a good start.

Yeah, it doesn't mean it can't be done with choir boys. Not every club that wins a premiership goes through the **** we've endured.

do you think melbourne, the most successful club of the 2010's, really gives a **** that they won premierships with smith, chambers and slater?

do you think they care about their image as cap cheats?

do they ****. they are winners and have an absolute winning mentality

As far as the brand stuff goes, we're damned either way.

If we could just hire players that are acceptable enough to get an NRL contract (because it's really on the NRL then) and not cheat, and actually win games, that's probably a pragmatic path to success.

Probably not. I've never heard any* of the ****s admit they deliberately cheated.

*Bellamy, Smith etc.

They haven't had anywhere near the smear on them that we've had. Plus, they've got a city to themselves so it's a little easier to get the corporate dollar.

If we're happy running out in blank jerseys then we should continue what we are doing. The club won't survive very long though.

I'd be more open to Lodge now I have a better understanding of how he is addressing the repercussions of his crimes.
Still probably vast majority don't know that he is repaying his debt and most of those that do would happily overlook it (because he isn't signing with their club) to talk down the team signing him.
There'll be Broncos fans turn on him in a heartbeat when he leaves them, quietly happy to have him now but as soon as he leaves he'll be a bad guy again who they never wanted and happy to see him go.

The articles about best mates Fifita and Lodge who threatened a junior referee and tried to kill a woman and child would be out before he'd finished his signature on a Cronulla contract.

I think they took longer than us to get a 2019 front of jersey sponsor and it was 1yr with a company that no longer operates in Australia.

I agree, Lodge is in good form won’t take a backwards step and can do some damage... I rate him as a player. Surprised he didn’t make origin TBH

I know it’s just The Lurker and he isn’t the most solid source. Sharks highlights include.
• We tried to sign Tony Satini before June 30 from Canberra but couldn’t get the deal done.
• Jayden Brailey weighing up whether to see out his deal with Cronulla or go to Newcastle.
• Shaun Johnson is “mentally weak” and needs to adopt the Sharks hardened steel or Morris will drop him. Flanno being named in jersey 14 is a warning to him.
• Bulldogs are about to go on a ‘feeding frenzy’ on the Sharks chasing Jayden Brailey, Kurt Capewell and Josh Dugan (are they serious?)

Fixed Matt. He used this word. In other words, he's just making stuff up.

Bulldogs can go for it - leaves us good money to fix the wing problem and ensure we have an up and coming centre to replace Morris after next year as well as someone to cover half/hooker
