Shoulder charges are only an issue if there's contact with the head. A blanket ban on them is stupid.

The bloke who died in Q Cup a couple years back copped it in the chest though, so obviously not true.

So the risk is the same with a hard tackle then. Are we gonna ban them too?

Dunno, they're penalised pretty often but.

Mate I love hard, mongrel footy and appreciated a ripping shoulder charge. But we're never gonna go back there. I believe the blokes's death was a horrible accident and its a small but genuine risk that if you take the field in a collision sport you may not walk back off.

An accidental head clash can kill you as well. The evidence in support of banning shoulder charges is pretty thin really.

Back when men were men and anyone else was a poof.

Pretty different but I'm watching the international tournament for powerchair hockey from Italy at the moment. I haven't played in 10yrs at a decent level and it was considered "non-contact" back then but even that has become "soft" in my opinion. I think its society in general wants to reduce risk and sport changes with that. I think everything changed when we had be insured just to book a venue.

Yeah I'd agree with that. I've noticed that with the running races i do in the bush, the mandatory gear i have to carry now is over the top compared to 10 years ago.

Most leave the CBR for long weekends, not come here.

If schedules lined up I'd certainly have a beer with you.

Sounds good mate. The missus will be running all day on the Sunday. If you can tolerate a 3 year old count me for a feed and a sherbert.
