It does look a bit like a hard hat from a distance ... and it's bright orange and has a panther on it rather than an eel. Keeps the auditors guessing.
Yeah... he ain't all that and ***** but he does have a Premiership ring on his finger. I've always thought that halves are best in their late twenties/early thirties - it's a maturity thing. When I see him doing silly try celebrations. all I can think is "grow up lad" - you ain't steering any team around the paddock when you're after a cheap attention-seeking moment.
He might come good and I'm willing to risk that - just needs to get some perspective of the long-game of a sports pro.
I've never been sold on him but iam ok with him being halfback whilst Maloney is there. He has a fair way to go. Without Maloney I think he'd struggle big time. Maybe he might come good as you say but if he wants $700k I'd say see you later.
So would I ... tired of players asking big dollars with only occasional runs on the board. Consistency with quality and reliability is everything. You earn those big dollars by how you shape up every weekend and not by some transient moments when things fell in place.

3 game star Kaylin Ponga will be on a similar deal in 2018 as Thurston. Where does NRL's market value come into that? Surely Thurston can't be signed for less than $12M a season.
And there in-lies a really and crucial question... "Is the salary cap all about 'top-deck' player signings or is it all about astute attribution and assignment of resources... and how does the game as a whole deal with credibility issues with some elite players exerting far more influence than their salaries may seem to dictate.
I suspect there is a lot more dialogue to be had here.

When Chad goes in to negotiate his contract get him to sit outside lyall's office, then they should have us v raiders semi playing in the waiting room., and remind him 2 games before your premership you got dragged and sat on the pine in our most important game of the year.
