I put this in another thread but I think it needs it's own.

Put your recruitment officer hat on and tell us of up and coming kids to keep an eye on. They are not to be NYC players but players you have seen that you would like to see have a crack in our NYC in the future.

Below are 3 from me.

Port Macquarie kids that may be worth looking at:

Name: Ethan Hyde
Age: 18
Club: Port City Breakers (Group 3)

Ethan is a hard running, ball playing forward that has the ability to play anywhere in the pack. Hit's hard and can offload a ball. Has a huge boot on him as well. Was very unlucky not to make the Oxley Pioneers U18 Rep Team as he was one of best in the Group stage games. Was advised from a source in Group 3 that it came down to the coach but all selectors wanted him in. Every game I’ve seen over the past 2 years he's been a stand out.

Name: Liam Irvine
Age: 17
Club: Port City Breakers (Group 3)

Liam plays 2nd row (at the moment). Don’t let his size fool you. He reminds me of the axe Gillmiester. When he hits in defence you stay hit. He runs great lines and can sniff out a try. Currently a member of the Gold Coast Titans Development squad. Only started seeing Liam this year but he’s very impressive.

Name: Tom Sheaves
Age: 17
Club: Port Macquarie Sharks (Group 2)

Tom is extremely athletic. Was a stand out in all ages growing up and has not let U18’s stop him. From 1 to 13 he can fit the bill (maybe not 7 and 9). Also a part of the Gold Coast Titans Development squad. You see players battle to make anything of themselves in league, well he is a natural.

NOTE: I have no affiliation with either club. I just love watching local league.

Joey Grima is the NYC coach and also does allot of recruitment work. He would be the best person to speak to at the club. Given that 2 of those blokes have ties with the Gold Coast they may struggle. If Ethan is a free agent that might work out.

This thread is about kids that we play with, coach, know of, have seen or are related to that have talent....tell us about them. However yes, if we deem a kid to fit the bill for sure we should pass them on.

I don't think that the kids sign anything when part of the Titans dev squad. I could be wrong.

I'm a bit scared that northern NSW from the Mid North Coast up will become a Titans only area as they are active here.

I know personally a few blokes that work for the Roosters up here and have gotten the 2 best blokes I've ever played against in my area as well as a few other younger kids from the north coast and gold coast so it's definitely not a Titans exclusive area.

But most of the best kids from the area play either in the Cyril Connell Cup(16's) or Mal Meninga Cup(18's) for the Titans, not all on contracts though.

Nicky Price, a winger from Southern Districts. Scored 3 good tries today, and only 18 or 19.

AFL convert helps his side to top union table
BY BRAD FORREST

NICKY Price, a lightning-fast Australian Rules convert, is one of the exciting youngsters who has helped Southern Districts to the top of the Shute Shield rugby union table.

In an unusual twist Price, just 19, and a former student at Brisbane's Nudgee College, a rugby stronghold, left rugby and became so proficient at Australian Rules that he was one of the Gold Coast Football Club's first contracted players, after earlier winning Michael Voss and Mike Fitzpatrick AFL Scholarships.

But his liking for the 15-man game prevailed over his new sport, and Price didn't need any more temptation when he was offered a two-week trial at Southern Districts earlier this season.

He shone on the wing, and then at full-back.

A sensational length-of-the-field try against Gordon was followed by another on Saturday in Souths' exciting, last-minute 35-34 win over Manly at Forshaw Park in the match of the day, televised nationwide by the ABC.

Souths also created a piece of club history by winning all grades against Manly, as well as taking out first grade Colts.

"We can't remember us doing that before against Manly,'' club chief executive Craig Hawkings said.

Price said afterwards he had been "lucky'' to get out of his three-year Australian Rules' contract.

"It was difficult, I just didn't enjoy it like rugby,'' he said.

"I'm really happy to get a chance here, and hope I can earn a [Super 15] franchise contract.''

Price was right for noted Coast rugby coach

Ged Maguire still remembers with fondness the first time he watched Nicky Price play rugby.

It was around nine years ago and Maguire, the then principal of Sunshine Coast Grammar School Primary, had gotten wind of a student who could, well, run like the wind.

Upon Maguire’s request, Price eventually agreed to try the 15-man game.

The rest is history.

The 17-year-old earned selection on the left wing for the Australian Schoolboys side following impressive performances for Queensland in last week’s national championships in Canberra.

Price scored a try in the Maroons’ 23-21 victory over NSW in the final on Sunday, giving Queensland its third straight national title.

One person not the least bit surprised to hear of his selection was Maguire.

“Once I found out how fast he was, I asked him if he would consider playing rugby,” Maguire said.

“He eventually said yes, and he was unbelievable.”

Maguire has coached his fair share of rugby talent over the years including former Wallabies John Eales, Dan Herbert, Nick Stiles and Brendan Cannon.

But he clearly has a massive rap for Price.

“Dan Herbert was probably the most talented I’ve seen as a young kid, but at the same age I’d say Nicky Price is better,” he said.

“He has all the skills that Herbert had, only he’s faster.

“I’ve coached a lot of good players and he’s the most outstanding prospect I’ve seen.

“He kicks both feet, he’s an incredible defender and he’s probably the fastest rugby player for his age in Australia.”

The Australian Schoolboys team will play Fiji as a curtain raiser to a Bledisloe Cup match at Suncorp Stadium in September, and will also tour Tonga and New Zealand later in the year.

However, Price is yet to decide whether he will commit himself to rugby.

The talented teenager has also represented Queensland in Aussie rules and cricket, and was the national long jump champion for his age division at one stage.

The only sport he has ruled out for certain is cricket.

“I’ve got to make a decision pretty soon, probably at the end of the year,” Price said.

“It’s still too hard because there’s some awesome pathways for AFL as well with the Gold Coast team coming in.”

Price injured his left knee in the dying minutes of the win over NSW and will have scans to ascertain the extent of the damage today.

“It might be a medial ligament tear, but I’m not too sure yet,” Price said.

Remarkably, Price flew back to Brisbane after Sunday’s game to attend the formal of his current school, St Joseph’s College Nudgee.

“I went straight from the airport to the formal,” Price confirmed.

Tom Sheaves: After starting the season in the under 18's is now playing 1st grade for the Port Macquarie Sharks. I know he's not the first 17 year old to do so but still a great effort in his first season of senior footy.

Ajuma Adams 16 years old in the Sunshine Coast comp, big and strong african kid. Can play centre, lock, 2nd row and even some five eight. Has made the junior queensland team from U14's to U16's and has even played illegally 2 twice for the Senior A Grade Kawana Dolphins team. Standing about 6'2 and 95kg he is a big unit for a 16 year old.

Too bad he's already signed up for the Broncos on U20's money I hear.

Drag Queen territory.
****, I'll play for free.

Height: 175cm
Weight: 76kg (trying to get down to 70 or at least turn fat into muscle)

Position: Five-Eighth, Halfback, Hooker...great passing game, passable short kicking game, fairly quick over short distances but slower than a lot of props over 100m, can't tackle anything.
