Magnay was on the footy show and I must say at least Gus got stuck into her. I wrote to Channel 9 today and asked she explai nor remove herself. See below, feel free to write to footyshownrl@nine.com.au

I refer to our conversation this morning. As mentioned, I am a sharks supporter but above all a NRL supporter.
I am not always in agreement with Phil Gould’s comments. However, last night he restored some respectability to a show that could have endorsed the worst PR week in the NRL’s history. When he asked Jacquelin Magnay whether her allegation were factual and whether she believes payments were made by the Cronulla club as a silencing/payoff incentive her only comment was that she alleged a payment was made, a photograph was produced and readers will reach their own conclusions. As an intelligent person Ms. Magnay would know that readers will immediately make obvious assumptions. It would be disingenuous to acknowledge anything else. This piece of journalism, which continues in the papers today, seems nothing more then sensational journalism. There is no evidence produced of an assault but insinuation of misconduct. I am surprised that the Footy Show, given the sensational nature of her reporting, invited her to panel the show. I always thought the Show endorsed rugby league. Yesterday, in having her on the panel, the Show endorsed the same innuendo and scare mongering the media perpetuates when a story is there to sensationalise (and sell papers). No doubt Phil Gould tried to restore some respectability in attacking her reporting but why was she even there?
I will only say this. If she is not a ‘sensational’ reporter and is a lover of rugby league she should come clean with the entire story (she mentions that 10% has only been exposed) and if her insinuations are not true, she should publicly step down from the Footy Show (by next week) and return some respectability to sports journalists.
Regards
Nicholas ....
Ps and if Ms Magnay repeats her assertion that all she did was report facts, she should stop insulting her readers’ intelligence. All journalism pieces include some opinion (by way of use of jargon, phrases, emotive words etc). Her piece, in the absence of FACTS, was sensationalised journalism at its worst. She should not, on the same evening, turn up on a Show that includes true lovers of the game and include herself as one of those. Her subjective piece caused a lot of damage to the NRL. She should accept this. "
