i think it will be:
6. Bird
11. Laffranchi
12. Hoffman
13. Gallen
16. Tupou

if bird has a strong game on frid night then they will pick him at 6 for NSW n this will allow them to play laffranchi aswell as tupou, gallen and hoffman

Possibly Chunk, looks pretty strong; but if the selectors go with Bird at five-eighth, who do you reckon they would go for at halfback?

My guess is that the selectors would see Pearce as too green to throw into Origin at this stage; however if Anasta gets the five-eighth spot then that may work in his favour.

i think anasta will be in the side somewhere, so birdy may play lock. i wouldn't count jarrod mullen out for half yet, because he had a blinder on the weekend. as for laffranci, he could be on the bench with topou, whilst gallen and hoffman start.

i'd like to see heighington(if thats how you spell it!) on the bench.
bird will be there and it doesn't matter where he plays.(lockyers already taken the soft option)

Remember the NSW and Australian selectors are two different groups. Just cause someone gets the nod at Australian level doesn't mean they'll be a given for NSW, or QLD for that matter RE: Billy Slater most likely lining up on the wing for the Maroons, which I can see the sense in, but thats a whole other topic.

Bellamy reckons he knows who he wants for half back, but is still a little undecided on 5/8. I personally think it'll be Braith Anasta at 6 with Bird at 13. NSW selectors rate Anasta even when he's going like a busted arse. Now that he's actually playing some quality football you'd have to think he's a bit of a shoe in.

Who will get the 7? Lots say Gidley cause he's been going well for the Knights. Right on, he has been going gang busters for the Knights for a while now, ever since he moved from the halves to fullback. This is no coincidence. Kurt Gidley is a fullback who plays his best football at fullback. For him to be best utilized in Origin (or any game) they've got to pick him at fullback. I believe they will if Stewart is unavailable. Which will probably see Finch get the halves spot. Face it Finch is fairly average for the majority of a season, but with a sky blue jersey on he tends to perform.

I don't reckon you can count out Jarrod Mullen just yet either. He put his hand WAY up the other day against the Titans and arguably form half of the comp Scott Prince last Sunday. He's got an opportunity to play the night before the side is named against the Storm in Melbourne on Monday night. If you gotta travel to Melbourne to face the Storm, you wanna do it when they've got something like 8 players backing up from a Test 3 nights earlier. That turn around time is long enough for the hype to shake off and the bruises to come out, so the Knights have a perfect opportunity, as does Mullen to have a blinder and be fresh in the selectors minds the next morning.

Anyway, yes, Bird will be NSW lock.

But who plays where for NSW really doesn't matter because the opposition remains the same dominant mighty Maroons.

i would still put either finch or kimmorley as halfback for the experience they have, i dnt care what there form is, any new player will probly crack under pressure (e.g. mullen game 1 last year) and last year when kimmorley played game 2 and 3 we almost won game 2 and we did win game 3

I think:

6. Anasta
13. Bird

I think you have to have Mateo in the 17.

I think you have to have Mateo in the 17.

You've already got 2 classy locks who double as big 5/8s in the team with Bird and Anasta who both churn out 80 minutes with ease. I don't see a spot for Mateo. He'd be wasted simply slotting into 2nd row and he doesn't strike me as a potent utility who can come on and create out of dummy half or anything. And if you want someone to come off the bench to relieve Buderus, Farah has it all over Mateo and should be groomed for 2009 life after Bedsy.

Im not saying I want Mateo to come on and play hooker????

Anasta isn't a lock he's a 5/8, and if Bird gets picked over Anasta at 5/8, they are not going to select Anasta to come off the bench to play in the backrow.

I think we must see the game a bit differently, cos Mateo can play second row, you could put him on the left or right fringe (where second rowers normally position themselves) and he's bound to create something. Also about his utililty value???? He can play IMO in the backrow, 5/8 & and if need be in the centres. It doesn't mean you are a utility cos you play a certain position, though you are also capable of playing hooker.

The reason cap I said I think he should be in the 17, is because he creates things in attack and has the x-factor. I think he's a very talented footballer who could handle SOA and would be more of an asset then others picked. I'd have him over Gallen (just being honest), Tupou (just being honest), Laffranchi, Thaiday, O'Donnell, Hindmarsh, Ryan, Fitzy, Watmough, Simpson, Heighington and Creagh.

This would be my forward pack as of now:

8. Bailey (if unfit Mase)
9. Buderus
10. Kite
11. Gallen
12. Hoffman
13. Bird
14. Gidley
15. Mateo
16. Mason (if starting, Cross/O'Meley)
17. Tupou/Laffranchi

Remember just my opinion. :cheers
